Well, Paul made the "who is your favorite Tuff Guy hardcore band thread, and Im more a fan of metal... so I felt this thread could be appropriate..

The topic of "who is your fav metal band and why" is always debatable.. and usually goes on forever.. so....

Who is your favorite metal band, and why?

(NOT metalcore or hardcore.. metal.) Black metal, 90's metal, new metal are all okay of course :goodjob:

Mine personally, would be Trivium

Sheer brutality - Godflesh
RocknRoll or singing along - Motorhead
Guitar Wankery - Children of Bodom or Between the Buried and Me
Chilling out or partying - Kyuss, The Sword, Dozer, Shadows Fall, Consider the Source
Reading/background - Isis or Jesu
Spacy metal - Helmet, Farflung, 35007
In the mood for a laugh - Gwar, Goblin Cock

There's so many different styles to metal.

I'm old school: Sepultura, Pantera, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Meshuggah

But I also like a lot of new stuff: After the Burial, Suicide Silence, Unearth, Veil of Maya

....and about a billion other bands.

Hell yes to your selection good sir

also
Testament, Super Joint Ritual, Pantara, Helmet, Tool, lots O metal!!

PACKAGE was my friends fucking awesome local band, but alas they broke up :(

and why? Because after a long day sometimes you want to crank up your car stereo, scare the bajesus out of the person in traffic next to you, and release all that pent up Monday shittyness

I guess I've never heard of the other bands, but I've always considered BTBAM to be more progressive metal. They've got their breakdowns but they also have nice blues jams in the middle of some songs.

I almost forgot, when I'm in the mood for some metal thats fuzzier than your girlfriend's teddy bear, I put on the Truckfighters. God help Atlanta if these guys come to town but for now they have yet to even tour the USA. Some of you guys might not like them because they never scream but they crank out some solid heavy metal.

BTBAM's Alaska will always be one of my favorite intros to a song.

But allow me to bring some class to this thread..

Parkway Drive (breakdowns)
Unearth (momentum)
Emmure (dark)
The Devil wears prada (technical stuffff)
FOR TODAY (clean, pure metal)
War of Ages (anger)
Vanna (Local flava)
The Showdown (for you southern rock guys)
Endwell (Lyrics)

discuss.

Tough to pick just one....

Nevermore is probably one of the best metal bands out there right now....
I also enjoy anything from Arsis to W.A.S.P

BTBAM is gay? Get educated son. I guess if I had to pick a favorite other than them it would be August Burns Red.

BTBAM = my favorite of all time

Other tops include: Despised Icon, Job For a Cowboy (new), Veil of Maya, Thy Art is Murder

And I don't understand how you can put Iwrestledabearonce, Suicide Silence, and BTBAM in the same category.. They are COMPLETELY different bands in COMPLETELY different genres. SS is deathcore all the way. And BTBAM is pure progressive metal, they are a band all their own.
