if you are worried about your safety enough to get a cage, might as well go ahead and get some rated padding.

There is a real difference between the rated and unrated. I have had both. The rated SFI45 is much better.

About that time I realized that the girl scout stood about three stories tall and looked like a monster from the paleolithic era...

That foam is great if you're wearing a helmet but it will still cause injuries if you're not. Anywhere you're arms are going to hit I would recommend softer padding to prevent injuries. I had a customer who got in a minor wreck dropping a car in a ditch and broke his ankle and tibia because of the roll bar. If it was padded properly he'd have been fine.

If you've got front bars be sure to pad around the bottom. He forgot about it and that's what got him a broke ankle. Needless to say its all padded now. We've got the half round dual density padding on the upper bars and the softer full round padding on the lower bars. Of course with a full halo seat its not like a helmet will hit them anyways but the passenger side has lots of padding since it doesn't have a halo. We'll see what you came up with next weekend.

Nothing like dying in a parking lot getting hit at 8mph because your head slammed against the roll bar.
