So I have about 650 bucks.

Try looking at these sites,
Dell, Hp, Toshiba; I know Dell has some cheap ones under your budget.

Wait till the launch of Windows 7 and you'll be able to score a Vista running laptop for next to nothing at normal retailers everywhere. It happened when vista launched as well.
My woman works at Office Depot and they have received their shipment of them already, getting prepped for back to school and clearance.

Look at the Asus @ BB for $650. Amazing battery life, quite thin and mobile, and plenty of power. The HP DV4 @ BB is also decent but doesn't have the battery life of the Asus.

Windows 7 comes out Oct 22 but if you buy now, you won't recieve your free upgrade till Thanksgiving-ish. Trust me, it will be worth the wait if you have had to deal with vista for the past three yearsl.

Personally I run from all AMD processors but if you're down with them then that's one way to go.
