Ok seriously... go to www.NASA-SE.com and register for the Hotlanta Challenge event coming up at Road Atlanta. you get over 2 1/2 hours of track time... Well worth the money. You will need to become a member of NASA first. You can visit www.NASAProRacing.com and pay $40 for a membership card.
You will start in HPDE-1. basicly no speed limit... you learn the lines, braking points, and learn the track.
NO RULES... except for passing restrictions... only pass in the straights with a pointby... thats it.
These are the cars in HPDE-1 that are signed up already for the August Hotlanta Challenge......
Wanna see how you and your car can compete against these cars??
All you need is a helmet :)

When is this? I'd like to come out. Never been on a track though, think this would be an okay starting point? Im sure i'll be repeatedly lapped, but I would love some track time.

If you have the S model prelude, I'd doing the VTEC/5th Gen brake upgrade before you hit the track. Or atleast get some really good pads. Just to be safe. I hear that back straight at RA kills your brakes, I know someone that went off there due to brakes being weak.

August 7th-9th
All details are here http://www.nasa-southeast.com/hpde.jsp
HPDE = High Performance Driving Education.... great place to start racing.
if you work 2 events you get a weekend of driving free.... thats what i did. working meaning.... corner worker, grid, timing and scoring, etc...
it usually cost around $350-$400 to drive for the whole weekend but like i said... over 2 1/2 hours of track time, classroom, instructor.... all included in that price.
as you progress through HPDE you can attend one of the Comp. schools at one of the events... get your comp license then race wheel to wheel or time trials...
at least check out the forums.... www.NASA-SE.com

yes... i cracked my rotors and fried my OEM brake fluid in June... get high temp brake fluid.... new rotors and pads before you hit the track.
turn 10a will do some damage to already worn pads and rotors

Yeah, my brakes were one of my next steps. I have brembo drilled/slotted front rotors, but oem pads. I want steel lines.
Is the VTEC upgrade just the calipers?

I did calipers/rotors/pads when i did mine.
i don't think you can just upsize the calipers though, all of it has to be done. i know where you can get one on the low low if you want it. PM me
wow this would be a blast

Road Atlanta is not a good place to start. If you are just getting tarted try Little Tally, Roebling or CMP

BS, with an instructor it's a fine place. I started at Road Atlanta when I was 16 and had a trouble free weekend. We rarely see new drivers crash, it's always the more experienced ones thinking they are Schumacher.
