I have an 85' merkur xr4ti 2.3 L turbo 5 speed. I'm having trouble figuring out whats going on with it. When I go to turn it on unless i keep reving the car until the gas arm goes up on the instrument panel the rpms drop so low the car shuts off. Any ideas what it could be? injector? fuel pump? I just replaced the fuel lines and it has all new tune up parts. Anyone know what could be going on?

does that car utilize a mechanical fuel pump or something goofy like that? it would seem so if you don't have fuel pressure until after you crank the engine and rev it up...
tech5- that's not a man, man! lol

You could try cleaning the idle control valve if the car has one...

i doubt the injectors would cause that problem, but to be honest with you i don't know enough about your vehicle to help other than telling you what it ISN'T, and that won't help you. sorry!

If you suspect its a fuel problem you should get a $20 inline fuel gauge that you can put in right before the fuel gets to the fuel rail. That will tell you if you have pressure, how much and when its getting to the rail.
Do that first then go from there.
