View Full Version : bad day for the s2k

this is what happens when you dont drive cautiously in new places(lake lanier area) where you cant see around the curve. got pretty sideways and then i overcorrected=this.

due to the angle of the car on the hill and lack of tools on hand, it was extremely hard to get the car off the hill. i usually look down on aftermarket tow hooks, but if i had one here, it would have made things extremely easy. luckily the security patrol guy was comin through right after it happened, he had a chain and a 4wd truck to yank it off the hill.

front and rear bumpers are fubar'd. exhaust is bent on the muffler and melted part of the bumper. gonna need a new muffler, or a new exhaust. ive seen some guys on youtube convert the invidia n1 dual into a single. gonna try and see if i can have this done. if not i still have the stock one. currently sitting at the body shop waiting for $2k+ repairs. im fine nobody was hurt.

I hate to hear that man, but im glad you're okay. and it could be MUCH worse. The day I was moving into my new house I saw a guy in a black S2K lose it on highway 11, right off I-20. He did a 360 into the gaurdrail, it was definitely totalled.

sorry to hear and see dude!

But, I just wanted to let you know that Invidia makes a single exhaust for our cars:

http://www.hopupracing.com/inhos200siti.html

I had one before I got my J's exhaust, and it sounded awesome! Killer drone though and very loud.

WTF?

i usually dont wear those shorts. ever. that day was laundry day and my shit was in the washer when i got invited out to the lake. and they are ankle socks. dont usually wear those shoes either, lol, but yes that is me.

if the shop cant get the exhaust cut down to a single, i will have them put the stock one back on and i will come by dan. PM me an estimate? not sure if the invidia is salvageable. might need a new single.

i know invidia makes singles, but if i can get the old one converted to a single i dont see the need to buy an entire new exhaust.

JB's driveway is a bitch, yes s2ks have electric steering.

thanks guys, hopefully ill get a rental today.

"this is what happens when you dont drive cautiously in new places(lake lanier area)"

So you decided to rip it up in a tail-happy AP1 on road you have never been on before? You're lucky you didn't get a dick security guard who would have called them cops. You could have gotten a ticket for reckless driving real quick with your car looking like that........

wanna buy my old exhaust? dan told me you may be interested. seeing how i have no use for it any longer, $20. piping is still good. 1 muffler is good, one is bad.

state farm is buying me a new invidia single exhaust.

was just thinking today how lucky i got, the other side of the road was a very long downward hill. littered with trees. good thing i had taken to hard top off. probably would have done some rolling.

S2ks are notorious for being piloted by douchebags that cant drive. There's no excuse for this happening in an S2k. Driver's fault.

there have been quite a few of both situations. just because you have an accident in an S2000 doesn't mean you are a douschebag that can't drive, but it also doesn't mean you aren't. there's absolutely no reason for judging someone without knowing them.

i see a car that was solo wrecked on a wet road. It's obvious that the driver is at fault here. I could care less about how you feel about an S2K's ability to correct itself in a hard turn, oversteer, understeer or any other critique you could possibly apply to an S2k's handling ability. An s2k is responsive enough to handle exceptionally in any condition under normal driving circumstances. It's not a fast enough car to do something accidently. This driver was either playing around and made a mistake or is just an idiot that cant drive. Either way... to everyone defending the driver, what if ur kids were playing in that area? what if you were driving in the opposite direction?

...you drive a 240SX. the irony is overwhelming.

anyway theres no denying that the driver was at fault here, but to imply that its difficult to lose control in an S2000 is naive at best, especially coming from someone who has owned one.

*AHEM* correction, CAN be the best handling car ever driven. :lmfao:

great tires are needed. 200 treadwear is "acceptable" 140 is usually a better idea since thats what i came with. but standard footwork on a AP1 or incorrect corner approach will be someones end in this car.

exactly. but the standard AP1 (mine included) runs on factory 16's (being that my roads and driveway prevents me from lowering my car (and bigger rims + no drop is fail)

but i agree. i've driven AP1 S2k's with 18's and 140's around and its a great way to live :goodjob:
