This morning you received a phone call from SoBE Energy (i happen to be drinking one now)... they want to buy you a new race car and put you behind the wheel. You now must choose your destiny...
Pick one of the choices listed... then post what kind of car you would drive. If you know what series, class, or circuit.... you can include that as well...
You can only pick ONE!

You're exactly right, but one doesn't have to make a living at it to be a pro. One only has to get paid. Very, very few of the people in motorsports actually make money at it.

Haha, a man after my own heart. However, if you're a good F1 driver you make a mint (wasn't michael schumaker the top grossing "athlete" of all time a year or two ago?)
If money was no issue though, Road Racing in the Le Mans series. I'd drive any car, any class, but the Aston Martins were always rather appealing to me.

Michael Schumacher Sorry, hurt me reading that....
Was the first athlete to reach 1 Billion dollar over his career. In 2000, he made over 100 million dollars. Back then, him and Tiger Woods would swap the position of the world's highest paid athlete. Currently, F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen is the world's highest paid driver.
Here's SI's international list.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/more/specials/fortunate50/2009/index.20.html
F1's Fernando Alonzo, Lewis Hamilton, and Jenson Button (before Brawn GP pay cut) are also on the list.

Unless you are a factory driver, you typically have to pay for your seat or the team looks at how money you can find for them.
For example, Toro Rosso's Bourdais replacement Jaime Alguersuari biggest credential besides his F3 talent is the Repsol backing he would bring.
In fact Toro Rosso is the ex Minardi camp and i remember those days when the drivers would basically always fund their seat.

Either pro drift or pro rally.
Drift, they could give me pretty much any car.
Rally, I wouldn't mind a Cosworth Escort, haha.

I would go Pro rally and drive Ken Block's Ford Fiesta

Equipped with a boosted 2.0-liter four-pot capable of 850 horsepower (de-tuned with a restrictor plate to output 650 hp in the name of tractability) and 660 pound-feet of torque. Partnered with a Olsbergs Motorsport-developed MSE Maktrak six-speed sequential transmission and powering all four wheels, the new Gymkhana contender will hit 60 mph in two seconds flat.
