Can someone give me a good explanation on what SAMBA does.. Also some pros and cons would be good. ... Thanks
From my understanding it pretty much is a link between linux and windows....:thinking:

Samba is the file sharing portion of Linux that Windows boxes can communicate with. If you setup a Samba server it pretty much acts like Windows file server. That's about as simple as it gets :D

If you decide to run samba (which works fantastic BTW) check out a program called webmin, it takes away having to edit smb.conf files with vi and makes it easily accessible from an intranet page.

Samba is a program that allows you to among other things share directories/files in unix as you would with windows file sharing. It does do other things like domain validations, active directory etc but its primary purpose is for file sharing.
