And Paul, it depends on who it is. If it's some unguided, pre-pubescent moron, then your above explanation fits. With folks I know (like the OP), it's all in fun. I did that just to create a laugh or two. Or a light chuckle. Or, in worst case scenario, a tee-hee. As I wasn't expecting a guffaw or someone in need of a panty changing outburst of laughter, it would have been nice. You see, laughter is an integral part of a healthy life and spirit.
