my 88 323 gt is over heating.
its got a new thermostat, Tstat gasket and i had the radiator "rotted out"
and its still over heating off and on
i can break boost it and it doesn't heat up
but if i creep to a stop it heats up(the fan STAYS on)
the manager and the shop guys all said to get a new CAT and a new muffler(dollar bill size hole in the muffler)
does the new exhaust make sense.
if so would it be worth the extra $ to go ahead and get a 2.5 from the turbo flange back?...

no offense, but the exhaust in no way should make the car overheat..

when was the last timing belt/water pump done?

and as for rbsilvia, stfu and gtfo.. the OP said the FAN comes on, maybe you know of a handful of cars in the world that are front engine front wheel drive and dont have a seperate cooling fan/condensor fan..

update:(
the new exhaust didn't do a thing but make it sound good
im thinking it a water pump tho.
cause at a idle its fine but when speeding up or even on the gas a little it begins to heat up.
Push in the clutch and it will slowly cool back down.
im thinking the the shaft or spindle is or has breaking loose from the propeller or fan that pushes the water through the motor... make since?
responces?

im pretty sure its your water pump just a first thing that came to mind type deal its always good to replace when you replace the timing belt

Update
new pump
hoses
rotted out radaitor
new tstat and sensor
but still overnheating

it wigging me out now
up until it gets too hot it pulls hard
and just before it will spudder a little but the car won't shake
it's like the wastrgate is wide open cause I can hear the boost build up
it this point I fucking clueless
but the only thing left is a headgasket

just a common response. You did make sure all air pockets are out, bleader valves (if any?) open? Heat works in car? I would say try a new radiator. A head gasket will make it sputter though. Is there white smoke coming out of your exhaust? Whats your oil look like after running it? Milky? If so you have a bad B.H.G.

Air pocket or most likely head gasket. Sorry you are having an aweful time.

should i get a comp test and a leak down?

A block test can check for exhaust gasses within your coolant with the vehicle running, is VERY accurate at determining blown headgaskets with cooling problems.

is it pretty simple do use

Very easy. Remove your rad cap and it sits where the cap goes. The one i've got hooks up to a vacuum line on the engine. The fluid inside will change color if it detects exhaust gasses.

update:
today i let the car warm up like usual
and i waited a little longer to see if it would smoke.
and it did
just once but it was a PLOOM of white smoke
:(
