I've noticed for a long time that VW guys much like motorcyclist have like a unspoken bond. pretty much when ever you see another nice vw or motorcycle you give them a sign of acknowledgement. i haven't really every noticed that before with other makes. discuss.

motorcyclists have a good deal of respect for each other in most cases.. you may see someone my age on a "crotch rocket" waive at someone on a gold wing... but later that night they will both talk to their friends about how they saw the other and how stupid they are for having that particular bike... my dad owns a harley ultra classic.. makes fun of anyone on a crotch rocket calling them "power rangers" cause of the suits.. and even though harley owns buell he made fun of me for getting one..

This is true with Impreza/WRX/STI/Forrester XT owners. For the first few years I had my car you couldn't pass one without getting a wave from the driver. It's gone down a little bit just by virtue of having more cars out there.

I"ve heard Jeep Wrangler owners have a similar bond as well.

If you are really insecure and think your car makes you, then you feel ultra competitive about it, whereas if you do it for the love of the sport, you are much more likely to actually respect what someone else has done to their car, and therefore feel a sort of mutual friendship even with a stranger.

I cannot stand people in honda's reving at me. There is this ugly Red prelude in Macon that revs at me every time i see him. It sounds like shit too. It is a 91-95 prelude, looks like it is multi-colored (not on purpose) maybe an unpainted kit or something. It has the worst sounding exhaust known to man. Every time i pass him and he revs at me, I think "Damn i need to get out of this Game, I feel bad for even being associated to this guy as a "lowered Car" by others.

I will say this until the day I die, VW owners are all family. If you guys ever get a chance to go to a straight dub show... You will see this. Everyone hangs out and there all friends and family. No comptetion of whose weiner is bigger or what not. A guy earlier today emailed me asking about something for his A4 but i told him the same thing. you got a question about your dub, someone will help you find out. Thats how we are.... The scene for Vw's has always been that way and from the looks of it will always be that way.

I wave at everyone with a ride. For instance i was on lunch break today and saw a clean ass Blue Miata slammed. If your on here that shit is hot! But we waved. I also so an S4 and we both waved. I guess some people are different. I have never had a problem. Most people that i wave at will wave back. I have had an occasional dick head but overall if you got a decent car, you should show respect for the scene.

Way before I even bought my first and current dub, I went to a bunch of shows with friends that drive dubs and damn what a difference from the other shows that I've been to. Everyone's real close to each other and always want to help out in one way or another. When I owned a Honda....it was all about mean muggin, competition, and counting each day how many kids are going to rev at me. I feel real good being part of the VW community.
