i have a 91 honda prelude b20a and it will not stop reving buy it self it started 2 days ago and it went from idle to 2500 rpm and back and fourth over and over even when you are cruising down the road then yesterday it started going from idle to red line so its like the car is taking off when floored and will not stop and i have no vacuum leaks and i cant figure it out i hope somebody can help me out

possibly the tps , i could be wrong , but that is what it sounds like to me

check your throttle cable? i guess make sure nothing is stuck the cable itself and the gas pedal i guess this is weird

There should be a valve like this on the bottom of the throttle body or either on the back of the intake manifold.

Take the two screws out and there should be a white piece with slit on each side like in the picture below. Take something like a gasket scraper and tighten that white piece back down. Should fix the problem.

Feel free to take it completely apart and clean it all out if you can. It will prevent other idling problems.

lol holy shit i thought i was the only one :lmfao: . dis happen to me 2, it ended up being the throttle cable, where the cable is inserted on the IM it kept getting stuck there, i put some lub on it and never did it again, i dont think im explaining myself right but o well, G/L. dis fucking sucks, i got scared as hell, i thought my motor was gonna blow or some crazy shit was gonna happen :lmfao:

thanks but it isnt the cable and i already messed with that valve thing on the back of the intake

Try unplugging the tps and starting the car...ur car will throw a CEL but if its the problem then it should idle fine.

i did that it still did it but i found the problem my intake gasket cracked on the 4 cylinder because i sprayed carb cleaner where the intake bolts up to the head and it stopped as till i stopped spraying so i got to find a intake gasket
Try unplugging the tps and starting the car...ur car will throw a CEL but if its the problem then it should idle fine.

i just ordered a gasket from honda because the dude at a the parts store told me to make it out of paper gasket maker but then i checked at honda and they ordered me one it should be at honda by Monday or Tuesday because no one can get the gasket for it because they said it was to old of a car

Hondata makes a great IM gasket for that motor....helps keep the plenum a little cooler as well.

Sponsors on Honda-tech sell them for like 55 dollars shipped. They are more expensive but are pretty much indestructable

Check Nolimitmotorsports they sent me mine and they should have one for a b20a

i check and they don't have one for my car so i am going to check to see if one from another honda will work for mine

cool...You should be able to use a regular b20 or even a b18...don't quote me on that tho
