The PC version of the game will be shipping to stores October 18.

The long awaited sequel to QUAKE II, QUAKE 4 enlists gamers in the role of Matthew Kane, a member of the Earth Defense Force's legendary Rhino Squad, to penetrate deep into the heart of the Strogg war machine and engage in a series of heroic missions to destroy the barbaric alien race. "On October 18, QUAKE is dialing it up to 4.0 on the Richter Scale with this new chapter in Earth's war against the Strogg," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "Fusing an epic war-story driven single player campaign, and fast-paced QUAKE III Arena inspired multiplayer, QUAKE 4 delivers a gaming experience fans will be raving about for years."

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to getting this game. I obsessed over Doom 3 before it even came out (I have a huge ass poster, a standee taller than me, and like 3 large boxes around my room as well as game boxes as decorations). Quake 3 is probably my best game though besides Soul Calibur 2. idSoftware for life!

This game looks badass, but what I find the most amusing is this:

"On October 18, QUAKE is dialing it up to 4.0 on the Richter Scale with this new chapter in Earth's war against the Strogg," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software.

4.0 earthquakes aren't exactly the most exciting and XTREME things ever.

I would think that the specs would fall right in line with Doom3, Battlefield 2 , and F.E.A.R. so if you can run those games you should be ok.

depends what kind of ddr ram he has. You should buy a non amd processor. Get a pci express setup with nvidia and then get a 6800. But for the majority quake 4 is hard to run on even medium.

Have you ever read a gaming harware review?

LOL. I bought a 9600xt that caused me a bunch of problems so I had to take it back out. Im going with a 6800GT O.C. 256. I know that I would get more with an X800 Pro but the Catalyst drivers fucked with my whole system.

BTW I found specs for Q4

AMD>*

Reviews are merely for those that don't understand computer specs. Try playing half life 2 with the minimum requirements and see how high you can turn up your settings. You can't do much with that overpriced "dell" you bought for 1500 from 1 year ago.

As long as you keep your amd running cold with 6 fans and a big ass heat sink to not overheat then maybe. But amd isn't near as stable as p4. I'd pick a p4 over amd anyday.

Well Q4 is out, anyone gotten it? Reviews? Impressions? I'm thinking about picking it up tomorrow.
