What razors do you guys use?
I have weird hair. I have brown hair on my head, black on my face, blonde on my arms. Weird. Anyways..I HATE shaving. it's a paint in the ass and even when I am finished I still have stubble and the black hair shows like there is no tomorrow. I'm using a Gillette...5 blade or something thats boosted. I was thinking of getting one of those expensive electric shavers. Any input on those?
I appreciate all the help, only other thing for me, and i've considered it, lazer hair removal. I hate facial hair.

I think you're better off with the standard type of razor you are using. Maybe just try a 3 or 2 blade one for a week to see if you like it more (I hear various numbers of blades work better/worse on different people).
I sport a beard and use an electric foil head razor (Braun) to do my neck and cheeks. It does a really good job for what I need, but when I'm looking for a really close shave I generally go with a standard 2 blade razor.
Just did a quick search and found this pretty comprehensive link on razors:

I wait 2-3 days before shaving, I hate it. I use gillette 2 razor disposables...they cost $20 for 52 razors

I gotta wait a few days to shave otherwise its pointless since it wont come off and feels impossible to get off. I use a 4 blade (dont know brand and too lazy to go look). I finish with a 2 blade cause its more exact where i need to finish.
I love a shave after like 5 days cause that's the only way i can get a fully smooth finish.

DG brand. The 3 or 2 blade. They work fine for me...

I'm using the four blade Shick with the trimming edge. I have to shave every other day to keep the 5 o'clock shadow off. lol It works well and I got it free in the mail with replacement blades.

I agree 100%. Theres nothing better than the original style safety razors for a close shave.
Hers a link that explains all about them and why they are better.

I need to find a place that carries blades for mine. Dollar general carries them, but they only have the DG brand and those dull pretty quickly, like 2-3 shaves and they're done. My dad gave me a pack of Shick blades not too long ago that were great but I can't find them anywhere I normally shop (Kroger, Wal-Mart, CVS, Dollar General, etc).
But when it comes down to it a good shave is like 50% skill, 35% preperation, 10% tools, and 5% luck.:lmfao:

Actually guys, it's really hard to cut yourself with one of those. Using simple teqniues you never will cut yourself. No, I don't get razor burn to whoever asked. :D
Make sure to soften the beard with hot water and or shampoo for a couple minutes first. I am soaking my brush at this time and have a couple drops of water on my puck of soap. Then hot soap on my face for a few seconds and swipe. Very simple. Not much more time involved once you're used to it and it's the shit. So much cheaper too.
Total Blender,
Check ebay and www.westcoastshaving.com for blades. WCS is amazing and have great sample packs that I'd recommend to find the blade perfect for you. I love Derby's and Ninjas.

and the techniques for a good prep work no matter what kind of razor you use, The two things that help me the most are putting a hot towel over my beard for a few minutes to open my pores, and keeping my face as wet as possible before applying the shaving foam. You want a layer of water between your skin and the foam.

Do you shave this way EVERY time? Or just when you're going out?
Seems like a huge time consumption for an every day thing...

-Ant.You won't need to shave everyday. :D
It's also really not that much more time consuming.
The trick is to enjoy it and almost make it a hobby. Trying different soaps and blades and then you won't care about the extra couple minutes.
Plus, if you're going to have to do something the rest of your life, you probably should try to enjoy it.

i use a gilette 4 blade. its not bad, but i definately have to change blades when i want a smooth shave. i generally only shave down to get the daily grind going, because i have to really really take my time to get a close smooth shave going up and down. baby face. its kind of annoying but @ the same time it does feel nice. but i agree. i let the water get really really hot, wash my face, rinse again, lather and shave. a good shave takes a long time (suck when you nick yourself don't it? ) but yeah razor bumps FTMFL.

A good bit of those ingrown hairs are from the multi blade.
One bade cuts,
next one pulls hair up,
cuts,
pulls
or some variation depending on blade.
So, when the hair is pulled up and goes back into the skin after the cut it can become twisted and wala ingrown hair.

I use the Fusion also, I have to shave about every 2-3 days. Use the Fusion for the mass area and a cheap single blade for the close areas.
