On a 2004 Mazda 6 with the bose stock stereo system. Do you have to bypass the stock amp? or do you do a line out from the stock head unit?

hook an aftermarket sub and amp up. but i know it has the stock bose system.. we have it all hooked up but the power light to the amp is constantly on even when the car isnt on and the keys arent in the ignition.

are you using an aftermarket radio or the stock one?
And yes, you need to completely bypass the stock amp for it to work correctly.

Yeah, it depends on the radio you are using. If the stock one, yes you will have to bypass it. It is an aftermarket one multiple RCA outputs, then no, you do not have to bypass it. In that case, the new harness would take up 2 of the RCA's to send the signal to the stock amp and you could use the additional ones for the sub...ideally the sub output.

What I did with mine is put female RCA's on the audio output from the headunit (low level) at the amp under the passenger seat. Heres all the wiring info: Bose wiring (http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=21828)
