So yesterday as I was endeavoring to pass emissions, I heard that Georgia may be getting rid of it all together in the coming year or so? Anyone heard that also?
i heard that they were putting emission machines on the side of the road

I heard that the whole state was going to have to pass. Not just the metro atlanta area.

Yeah, I'll have to wait 4 yrs till I can get a classic car tag for the civic. 25yr cars aren't required I don't think.

Where did you hear this? I would vote for them getting rid of it completely as other states have done since it really doesn't reduce much as far as pollutants go and costs the government a lot of money... but the government never does anything that makes sense... and the only car i own that would require testing i leave registered in FL anyway... not that any of the 13 counties that require testing would have a clue how to test my non OBDII compliant car in the first place:thinking:

I heard it from a Toyota master tech and from a few other places. The government does some pointless shit, so I wouldn't put it past them.

I am sure they will make it required all over. Many states went away from testing OBD1 cars on the rollers with the sniffer. OBDII cars only in many states.

Man I hope we don't get emissions down here, my STi will have a pretty tough time with no cat, and a standalone EMS. SHIT.

Been awhile since I have done emissions, before the change. But money will always talk, just gotta find the right person.

when i was working at an emission station last year i heard that they are getting rid of all the emission station and having them at gas stations, so its more convenient and i think they are gonna stop doing OBD1. so only OBD2, OBD3, and ASM cars will be tested

I would be so happy if they got rid of the OBD1. Good by cat!!! Other than that, get a diesel, no emissions and tons of torque.

Lame the last few years I havent even got emission done.. I go get my tag and walk out.. They never ask me for the paper.. Someone told me some BS they send a electronic message or whatever with the Emission #... I figure that was B.S... They ask me one time , I said, " Oh damn, I left it in the car " They buy it.. lol
I mean, if they send a electronic message or something linked to your tag that would be a good idea.. but That some BS..
