somebody has one and they are offering to trade me and i need to know if they are good trucks or not this one has 83,000 miles on it so its seems to be at the normal mileage for its age, i need to know what is the real gas mileage on these 4.3 V6 and not the factory rating.

this is the link to their ad.

Don't trade. They are sorta pretty too look at. The V6 engine is junk. It's loud, no power, very sluggish. The 4.3L just isn't a good engine. My 4.0L in my tacoma would dust that 4.3L. The interiors of the S10 line are loud, not very comfortable and the truck tops out at 98mph.

yeah man, "friend" of mine had one. Very very junky. No power, and not very comfortable.

And he even had spray painted dash panels and one drag racing bucket seat, so you know it was making good power...

Well, I think it has plenty of power for a daily. Definitely more than some trucks I've driven. My buddy had one and beat the snot out of that truck and it's still going strong. Nothing ever major wrong with it. His parents now have it and drive it daily. I've even borrowed it on a few occasions to move some stuff around. Hasn't ever let anyone down so far.

4.3 is junk? LOL It's a 350 with 2 cylinders cut off. They are good trucks and the 4.3 is a good engine for a daily driver.

Yea, it's hard to believe the bashing of the 4.3 in here. Maybe you guys are thinking of the 2.8 V6 that GM used in a lot of cars, including older S10's. That motor makes about 260tq at the crank stock, and who needs something that goes over 98 out of a DD? My uncle has had his since new in 99ish and I have never heard a foul word about it from his mouth. He's even got a v8 Tundra to drive, too.

I have a Jimmy with the 4.3 and its a solid motor. Take proper care of it and you wont have any issues with it. It will eventually need the lower intake gasket replaced though as GM used a POS one. That is about a $50 fix and it takes about 4 hours start to finish.

Interiors are fairly loud, but not unusually so. Decent tires can get rid of most of that noise.

8k is overpriced though. You can get one in the same condition for about 4k if you arent in a rush to buy.

An example from s10 forum.
