I got overspray and dried up fix a flat on my aluminum lips on my rims.
I bought goo gone but haven't tried it yet. Is it safe to use it on aluminum? or any other safe methods?
Help!

Why were you using fix-a-flat in the first place? I've always heard never to use that stuff.

Why were you using fix-a-flat in the first place? I've always heard never to use that stuff.Sometimes you don't have a choice and several high performance cars come with a can of fix-a-flat and a mini compressor vs. having the weight and mass of a spare. Driving with it for extended periods is what is bad because it can throw the balance of the wheel/tire off.

exactly , speed minded said it best , and its a complete pain to get the inside of the rim cleaned up later on.

my buddy had a lot of overspray on his wheels that he kept on there for 3 years and last week end we clay bared them and it came right off without damaging the shine of the lip.

never dull might work but theres a lot of labor using that bc your polishing the lips. but to just removed the overspray claybar will remove them with very little labor.

i dont know about the fix a flat, is it very thick? if so just take a brand new razor blade and start cutting away little pieces remembering not to hit the wheels with the blade and then claybar the rest.

Overspray is easy to get off, claybar, mineral spirits, paint thinner. IDK about the fix-a-flat though, good luck......

Thanks guys!! I'll guess i'll try the clay bar, that sounds the best.
I had to use fixaflat b/c i got off work on a Sunday night and saw a flat tire,i knew no shops are open and if i put my spare donut on, my front end is gone..

fix a flat can be really helpful, but if the tire has a decently sized gash its just going to cause hell for the tire shop to scrape it off to repair your tire.

wd-40 or bug and tar remover. Then use a scotchbright non-scatch dish sponge.
