Well, I've often wondered when I would join the club, and my day has finally come, unfortunately. Last night, one of my Civic Si's was stolen from the body shop we use in Union City. It was locked up inside the building with the alarm on, but they managed to get to it nonetheless. It was a 2000 Electron Blue Pearl Civic Si, around 84,xxx miles, nearly all stock; an AEM CAI and DC Sport headers being the only two aftermarket parts. I'm sure it will be recovered, stripped to the bone just like all the others in the past. In the mean time, keep an eye out for the car and its parts. I will post the vin# when I get to my shop. Thanks IA.

Yeah, that car has been inside the body shop in their storage section. Its not like it was being worked on, with door bays wide open, for the entire public to see. It has been sitting, locked up for a couple weeks, and hasn't seen daylight the entire time.
Sounds fishy.................................
very fishy...
any bay door damage, side door?? .. Glass on the floor..Keys missing?? sounds inside-ish to me... Good Luck getting it back. That thing looks MINT

I'm not sure, I haven't been over there yet. It wasn't my shop; its a friends body shop. But yeah, it was one of the mintier ones I've ever had. I'll get it back though... and the rebuilding process will begin.

Its not really open to the public. He's got a parts yard and rebuilds salvaged cars out there. As far as I know, my cars are the only ones he works on other than his own.

Damn, could it have been someone that knows you or your friend who owns the shop??? Any security cameras on site. Just hard to believe that someone breaking into a shop with alarm and not get caught. g/l and hope to get it back in one piece.

Is it where BMVW used to be? IIRC, that place used to rebuild wrecked vehicles and sell them.
Sounds to be an inside job unfortunately.

How are you SO SURE its going to turn back up? You have said it twice that you will get it back. And the thing was locked inside a body shop that the public has never seen? He doesnt work on anyones cars but yours? And youre sure you will get it back? You do not seem mad or upset at all.....
Sounds more like possible insurance fraud than an inside job.

I don't know... maybe I'm in denial about it... but I'm just trying to remain optimistic. I figure if I allow myself to become enraged over it, thats only going to cloud my judgement on how to handle the situation properly. But believe me, I'm mad about it. Its frustrating to know that this can be done seemingly at will, and that the chance of apprehending the thieves is so minimal. Its pretty scary to think that you can have a car locked up inside, several cars blocking it in, and the alarm on ... and still have it snatched. What further steps can you take to protect yourself from having this happen? Unfortunately its part of the risk you take by owning something like this. I do appreciate all the positive response though. Thanks guys.

VIN# has been added to the initial post...
Several identifiable parts off this car include:
- Engine/Transmission, obviously
- It had a blue AEM CAI and a DC ceramic header (in case they try and sell the entire swap)
- Cluster will be showing 84,xxx miles
- OEM Si wheels have a matching set of Nitto NT455s (~60-70% tread)
- If I remember correctly, all body parts/panels had their original VIN stickers, minus the rear bumper cover and deck lid which were the two parts being replaced at the body shop. So if yall see any OEM EBP body parts for sale, keep that VIN in mind.

Seriously...? I gotta say, I'm pretty surprised that several of you have come away with that reaction. Is it because I didn't come on here stomping and stammering, cursing and flaming about how I'm hoping I can catch who did this and how they'll get whats coming to them? I didn't post this in order to vent about what happened. My goal was to alert you guys about the theft, and to yall be on the lookout either for the car or its parts, and maybe garner a little positive sympathy as a bonus. Also, if this was an attempt at insurance fraud, why would I post my name, number, vin, pics of the car, etc. for posterity?
Maybe I'm coming across differently because this was a car I bought to sell. Although I liked the car, and was very proud of how nice and clean it was, it wasn't my "baby". It wasn't something that I've owned, driven, and worked on for years. Maybe thats where the disconnect is for some of you.

Seriously. If it wasnt insurance fraud, then it was an inside job. Cars dont disappear from inside a locked building, alarm on, behind 3 cars.
Dont be too blind to see that.

Well, I just came back from the body shop where the incident occurred. The lock on the front gate was cut clean. Then they managed to PULL the bay door off. I guess they hooked something to it, but they were able to actually pull the whole thing out. In addition to my car, one of the owners cars was stolen, some wheels, tools, and oddly enough even all the engine oil and transmission fluid was stolen as well. Whats strange is that there was a GSR in there that was left completely untouched. Its weird... parts of this job make me think they're pro's, and other parts make it look like amateurs.

Yeah, it sounds fishy. They stole a stock Civic, tools, and oil...but left a GSR which is much better than a stock Civic. Then you start out your thread saying you wondered when you were going to join the club? All at a place where only the owners cars and yours are worked on? Where your car has sat for 2 weeks with nothing being done to it? The bay door was torn off...like with a tow truck? (something a salvage yeard would have) All in a building with an alarm system?
I think you see where I am going with this.

I'm assuming the shop is liable since it was inside their building? I'm sure they have insurance or they should anyways. Any business that handles customers property is going to be required to have insurance of some sort. What about your own insurance?

The fact that he said that he was shocked that the GSR was untouched sounds like it is more than a junk pile.

An ad that that reads "AEM performance intake for 2008 Civic Si - $100 (Lawrenceville)" as the title would leave me to believe that it's an intake for a 2008 Civic Si...one with a k20z3. Hrmm...try again maybe?

If my car got stolen, I wouldn't be depressed about it.. ITS A FUCKING CAR faggots.. And that's what insurance is for..Only if it was one that had an infinite amount of time into it. Insurance doesn't repay for blood, sweat, and tears...just material. He's in the business of flipping cars, nothing to be depressed about!

I just wonder how did they move those other cars?and with all this going on with ripping off the door and cutting the lock clean off why would they have to rip off the door. Also they had time to steal tools and engine oil who the fuck does that. You would think if this was really a thief they would have took more than a stock si they would have took the gsr also and any other car that was a honda and access to.Since they had time to do all this stuff im guessing they werent in a hurry.

That was my only question...
He said the bumper and trunk wasn't original. A light rear ending, or backing into something can mess up both, yet not cause major damage.

I personally wouldn't steal both cars. It's one thing to say, "Yea, I have some EM1 parts for sale." But when you say, "I have EBP EM1 parts and '9X-XX GSR parts for sale"... it looks more fishy.
