Alright, I don't believe in them, BUT there have been a few things happening that has me thinking.....WTF???? Bear with me because this is going to be kinda long.
First, a little background. I loathe for lights, TVs, water, fans, or generally anything to be left running w/o someone being in the room using it. I look at it like it's me literally throwing money out the window. It's a pet peeve of mine and everyone at home knows it, yet they still do it far too often. Needless to say, there's been more than a few scoldings about it.
Second, I bought my house a while back because I was helping someone sell it. He is an investor and bought this house to rent out. He bought it barely a year old and rent it right away to an older couple. WELLLL, turns out that they BOTH passed away w/i a year or so.:( :ninja: Long story short, I bought it because I was getting a good deal and it was ultra close to my office in a great school district. Ok, so that's done.
Enough background, on to the weird shiot:
My wife and kids have always said we had ghosts in the house....but it was usually when I was blaming them for something and they said THEY didn't do it.... Well, the other night I was downstairs feeding the dogs and everyone else was upstairs doing their thing. I come back upstairs to find my wife and daughter laughing and having this weird look on their face. Seems my phone rang. No biggie. Well, it rang again, so my wife asked my daughter to look to see who was calling. She walked over to the dresser where the phone was sitting chillin and the caller ID says its MY WIFE calling. The goofy thing was.....her phone was sitting beside her on the bed 15 ft away.....:ninja: So my wife picks up her phone and looks to see if she'd hit the send button by accident by looking to see the last phone calls made.......guess what???? My number is NOT the last one dialed..... :ninja: So, my phone rings supposedly from her phone yet no sign of it at all on her phone. So when I walked in and asked what was going on, they both go thru and tell me this "weird" story.......I laugh at them and call them dumb for thinking our Casper did it......well, guess what??? While I was standing there making fun of them.....my wife's phone rings, while she's holding it......and it was from MY phone, which I was holding in my hand and definetly NOT hitting any buttons...... :ninja: Needless to say, all three of us just looked at each other. Again, I looked on my phone and no sign that the last dialed called was to her. Explain that.
One day, I was taking a shower. The light over my sink was the only light on. My son and I were the only ones in the house. I could almost swear that I heard someone come into the bathroom, so I assumed it was my son. Right? Well, a couple of seconds later the light over the sink is turned off. So I yell out to my "son" to turn it back on because I was in the shower (as if he couldn't figure that out). When "he" didn't do it right away, I opened the shower door to look out and fuzz at him.....only to find noone there. So I yelled out to my son, only to find out he was playing video games down in the BASEMENT....2 floors down from my bathroom.... The switch was actually turned off, because when I got out, that's the first thing I checked and the light turned on when it said "on" and off when it showed "off".
Finally, the other night my wife and I were laying in the bed watching TV kinda late at night. Kids were in their rooms in the bed sleeping. Suddenly both of us heard the clothes hamper, which is in one of the closets in our bathroom CLOSE.....as in the door open, then close. Very distinct sound. We both thought that one of our dogs, which was in the house, had gone in there and was messing around......only to look down and find him fast asleep at the foot of the bed on the floor......:ninja: So I walked in there to check it out......the hamper door was indeed closed and nothing looked like it had fallen down on it or pressed against it. Just sittin there chillin. I walked back in and the wife was looking at me funny, convinced we have a ghost in the house.
Thoughts?

That is straight from the screen. Jaime the ghosts are following you into this thread....
But in all seriousness, my mom swears her childhood house was haunted. They had a pool table in the basement, and she said that sometimes in the middle of the night you would here the distinct sound like someone racked them up then "broke" the rack. The sound of cue ball hitting the other balls. She also said that they would go to sleep with the toilet seat down in their bathroom (shared by her and her 3 sisters), and they would wake up and it would be up. Their parents bathroom was attached to their room, so their dad had no reason to leave his room to use their bathroom.

That is deff pretty weird but I've had similar things happen in my house. We semi built the house, already a frame but nothing inside, so we got it cheap. Well, the owner before us had mentioned a graveyard in the woods. We own 23 acres and the graveyard is maybe 400ft from the house. On top of all that, the owner's brother, who was orginally building the house, hung himself somewhere in the woods. Now, I've been all through the woods.... Seeing as how I've lived here for 6 years... and I've found many wierd things, as in.... I found a shoe, a rope..with the neuce, and different things like a watch, etc. I did alittle research to find they never found the guys body. Pretty scary right? (This is all 100% truth.. a few people on here have heard from my parents that also did some research about the incident)
Now to point... One day, with no one at the house except for myself, I was upstairs watching tv and I heard a loud noise. Of course, I jump up and go check it out. I get downstairs and find nothing until I walk into the kitchen. The glass fruit bowl that usually sits on the table, that it roughly 5-6lbs, was on the floor about 4 ft away from the table in pieces. Fruit and glass was everywhere. I thought just maybe one of our animals had knocked it over... But I open the door and my cat had ran in. So, I go check the guest bedroom to see my dog laying on the floor asleep. So explain that.
A few weeks later, once again at the house by myself, I was in the living room on my laptop and talking on the phone... I heard, what sounded like doors slamming, from upstairs. Once again I go check it out. I go upstairs to see my door inwards in my room. It opens outwards but the center wood piece that stop the door was broke and the door was bent inwards. My dog was outside and their is no way my cat did that.
And last, which a few members here on IA can vouch for, lights sometimes flicker on and off through out the house. We had the company that did our electricity come out to inspect after it started happening frequently but they found nothing wrong. The lamp that sits on top of the piano flickers atleast once or twice a week. Lights happen every so often... but it doesn't happen like it did a few months ago.

Same here. I believe in ghosts 100%. I've had stuff like this happen to me as well. No to where a door got broke or something like that but some really weird stuff happening. But there is no doubt in my mind that they exist.
my brother and i have had experiences when we were younger... shit was crazy. i'd be scared if shit like that happened but it'd be an adrenaline rush.
when i stay with my gf (she stays with her sister in the guest room above the garage), everyday around the same time, 11 pm, we hear stomps in the garage, bangs on the door, walks back into the house...
we asked her sister she said she goes to check the garage door, but we know for a fact that her sister is fast asleep when this happens, cause she goes to bed at 8 pm'ish.
a few weeks ago, her sister and husband were in the hospital so we were both alone in the house. all fire alarms started going off. i was like, lets just try to ignore it it will stop in a few minutes. so it does. 15 minutes later, they go off again. and this time it doesnt stop.
we walked through the entire house, and couldnt find anything. as soon as we said, lets go back to the guest house and try to sleep. it stopped.
both her and i get a creepy feeling in that house.

Damn.
My friend always mentioned he had a ghost in his apartment, but we all thought he was being goofy. So one day we are chilling in the living room just talking. Im sitting in a chair with a view of the hallway and bathroom door. As we are talking, out of the corner of my eye I see something walk into the bathroom and turn the light on. I asked if there was someone in the back and he said no, and indeed I go to check the bathroom where the light is turned on and noone is in there.

Anywho -- The phone thing sounds a little weird - I've never heard of that happening before, and I dont see HOW it would be paranormal.
But all the other things very well could be. And it doesn't seem like your ghosts are angry (if you do have them), so I wouldn't really worry about it.
My best friend growing up lived in a house that we SWORE was haunted. You could always feel a presence in one certain room and things would always get moved. She had an office above the garage that had a little crawl-in door to a storage space. We used to hang out in there (we called it our club house lol) ... we dragged carpet and all sorts of things in there, and covered every inch of the walls with Spice Girl posters... one day when we went in there, all the posters had been torn off the walls... no one else had been in there ...
Another night we were there with her mom -- her mom had asked us to lock the deadbolt, so we did. We went upstairs and her mom came upstairs and asked why we didn't lock the door. So we went back downstairs, locked it, when back upstairs. Same thing happened -- door unlocked itself. We went back downstairs with her, SHE locked the door, and we walked into the kitchen. As we're sitting there, we HEAR the deadbolt unlock itself. WEIRD.
Anywho - after they moved to another house we found out that the man who had owned the house had died IN HER ROOM... and that the subdivision was built over an indian burialground.

i believe in ghost because weird things have happened in my family and to me personally.
Like when i was 15, i was watching tv in my room it was around midnight and everyone was sleeping in the house. well i start hearing someone coming from my back porch start going up the living room stairs and then stop and it starts over again about 10 times during the night and the next morning i go check the glass sliding door and it was closed and locked. and it happens about once a year and its always during the summer.

In all honesty, I'm not convinced that ghosts exist, but this stuff is extremely weird. Don't know what to think, but if he/she keeps turning off lights.....they're cool with me.:goodjob:

06-10-2009, 12:45 AM
yeah usually they dont try and bother you -- i dont think they even know why they're still here most of the time.... it seems like they dont KNOW they arent alive anymore and continue to carry on with every day things (like turning the lights off and closing the laundry hamper)
it would be neat to have a little more proof than just personal experiences though! and if you cant find proof, at least you know you're crazy! ;)
