i was out yesterday and went into a local Gun shop just to see what he had in stock, saw this and fell in love.....LoL i took a gun of mine and traded for it and am very happy w/ the way the gun shoots. i also went fri and applied for my carry permit. It is a Springfield XD-40 cal., this is my second springfield but my first compact pistol. it is a little thick for concealed carry, but under my shirt w/ the in the pant holster i got also u can barely notice it (but i dont carry it yet, just testing it out for when i get my permit)

I've got a XD45 and LOVE it. I've put every different kind of round I could find through it and can't seem to get it to jam lol. Mine is my best friend. If I leave the house, it's with me. I do want another for concealed carry though, something smaller!

I had the service edition and loved mine. Sold it when I came over to Italy since no personally owned weapons are allowed. Great handgun.

LoL thanks. Nah the kick isn't that bad for a 3" barrel. I have show a snubnose 44 mag. so this thing is like a 22 compard to that. Thanks everyone for all the input I have the 4" version in 40 also and as far as polymer pistols go springfield is hands downthe best IMO.I just got this compact b/c the giy pretty much traded me even for an older gun and I have been wanting something for concealed carry for a while now.its not very concealable w/ the high cap. mag in it but w/ the shorter mag its not too bad. Next up when I get a little extra money is a 1911 though.

Best thing I read in this thread. I hope you enjoy it. Now go shoot 2-3k rounds through it and send us a range report with what you learned.

yeah well money is tight and i know springfields are good guns, and it is all i can afford right now. when i worked at bass pro in savannah i wanted to get one so now i finally did. but when i get the money i think i want a kimber 1911 but i have had a few ppl tell me not to waste the money on a kimber....so i dont know i will start researching when i get serious after i get back from basic training.

nah im not trying to over compensate for anything by buying a "big gun" ............... but seriously a 40 is plenty for concealed carry/range fun. so im happy. an i will have a 45 soon enough.

Basic training huh. What branch? What MOS?

You dont need a .45 = Good shot placement and the ability to actually be effective with a pistol is first. Take a couple of good pistol classes and you will be set.

Wow, a scout huh. Thats like the 3rd gayest MOS in the army. haha. Glad to know your atleast volunteering to fight for your country. If you have any questions about the army let me know. I have been active duty for the last almost 4 years. And remember this and dont forget...

11B is the only real mos in the military. Everyone else is support.

yeah i thought about 11b, but i scored so high on my ASVAB that (above the 31 it takes for 11 bang bang) they didnt want to waste my resources in the grunts...LoL im j/k i wanted a combat MOS and i have alot of friends that were 19d in the guard, and recon is sounds fun. i have also gotten airborne signed in my contract so that will be fun as well.
