Automatic trans, and fluid changing..

Ive always heard that draining, old tranny fluid..in replace for good fluid will hurt it, if it hasnt been done in awhile. ive got records of it being done about 150k ago...lol But is this true, i want to do my fluid in the 929, to try to get rid of the hard gear shifts from PRND. i was told not to drain all of it, or mix some of the old with the new.. :???: the car has like 185k...

btw it doesnt leak, and its full.. just old fluid.

I always try to drain mine, replace the filter, and put in new fluid every 50k or so. I did transmission services for a local Xpress Lube for 2 years and never heard of it making one any worse than it already was, not saying it can't, just I haven't personally heard of it happening.

i normally just drain and full. dont do a machine flush. if u have an external filter replace it.

i know honda recommends u flush it with more tranny fluid when u do it

so you all would drain and fill with the high mileage? with 100% all fresh oil? I would get as much of the old oil changed as possible. From my experience though, once a tranny problem starts, changing the fluid wont solve it. It might help prolong the problem from getting worse though.

Just drain it competely (and if you have some $$, pour some new fluid through to clean out what old might be left), then just fill up with new fluid.

its fine, drives fine, and shifts fine, its just when i put it into R, R and D sometimes, it engages real hard. And i was told it might help stop that...or make it better.

Just replace the fluid with oem fluid then thats it. Oh yeah dont forget to cycle through the gears before you drive.
