Hey guys,

car is 1996 Nissan 240sx

i was driving and then one day everytime i would turn right with my car i was hear a like a clanking noise under the car....i'm thinking its the rack and pinion. i took a look through the left front wheel and would see a broken boot right there so yeah.....

any ideas of what it could be?
and if u have any for sell let me know...
either email me @ [email protected]
or call me at 678 697 1826

Updates...

i havent gotten someone to stand outside to listen to it but yes the front left rubber boot is broken into two....

It makes a clanking sound turning right ONLY if the car is moving... so if i just turn the wheel then it will not make the sound ...

It does not matter how hard i turn right... i could be either turning slight right or 90 degress right itll still clank...

when turning i hear it coming for under the car like around the front right like under where the passsenger sits but more towards the tranny....somewhere there in between... i asked some guy at oreillys and he said maye my wheel bearings are thrown... tomorrow ill take it to Vo-Tech or maybe just the nissan dealer for them to look at it... but thank you so far guys for the ideas...

Could be a list of things. A broken boot doesn't mean it's your rack and pinion. Most likely I would say a ball joint and/or tie rod ends.

Does that "clanking" happen when doing a 90 deg turn? how fast do you have to be moving for it to happen?

Try to determine where its comming from, if it happens when you turn slowly, maybe get someone to be outside of the car and listen where its coming from.

and what do you mean a broken boot? like just the rubber is busted?
just some ideas

It could be wheel bearings, brakes, more info...

Sounds like a CV joint going bad

The car is rear wheel drive, so if it's coming from the front, then there is no CV joint.
