ok to start off i have a ls vtec built turbo engine and i had a guy come torque my head down for me. ok well he torqued my arp head studs to 100 to 102 lol. well were wanting to know what we should do if i would have to get a new head gasket and head studs or not. if not would i be ok un doing them one at a time and re doing them to 85 lmk asap thanks

Might need to call up ARP and see what they say. Tourqe specs are there for a reason. Too tight or too loose will drastically reduce the life of the bolt.

100 ft/lbs is not that extreme at all. That is what I have my ARP's torqued to in my 4G engine. Many 4G63 guys torque their STOCK head studs to 100+ ft/lbs, even up to 120 ft/lbs when they put on a MLS head gasket, and they have been fine. 100 ft/lbs for your ARP head studs is fine and I wouldn't worry to much about lowering the torque of them.

What lube was used?

Seems the torque spec is around 70 with ARP moly lube. So with plain motor oil that spec will be way higher. With my 7mgte head studs the moly spec is 80ft/lbs, with motor oil it is 130ft/lbs.

Oh and MLS head gaskets are reusable. If you take the head off make sure you clean the block and head surfaces very good.

As for the head gasket, drill out the rivets and take the layers apart and clean any remaining viton(the black stuff) off with acetone or similar. Spray each metal layer with copper spray front and back. Let them get tacky or even dry and you can just stick them back together and throw the motor back together.

What does that matter? 30wt motor oil is not as slick as ARPs moly lube, therefore you must torque to a higher spec.I didn't say that was going to be the same exact torque spec for a Honda. Call ARP and ask them, they will tell you the torque using 30wt.

Oh and btw the studs arent torqued into the block they should just be hand tight. The nuts are what gets torqued.

Its best to contact Arp because ppl have different opinions about torque specs and how to properly do things.

We dont recommend using mls headgaskets twice. It has been done and has been known to work. If you take it apart, clean it completely, and use copper spray that will give you the best shot.

We have put headstuds that are recommended to be 85 ft/lbs at 100 ft/lbs on our personal shop cars with no problems. They were the 7/16 arp studs and arp moly was applied to all threaded surfaces and the top and bottom of the sealing washer so there was minimal friction.
