i would sand it down with 180 on a da and then prime it with a nice primer surfacer that builds reall good dont buy that autopart store primer go to a paint store and buy some nice primer you can spray out a gun to build nicely about 2-3 coats will be good enough to block out nicely

AIRCRAFT PAINT REMOVER 18 OZ AEROSOL ~ Item Number: KLE EAR322

Here is a link. http://www.tcpglobal.com/autobodydepot/itemdetail.aspx?itemno=KLE+EAR322

This is some serious stuff so take it slow. You spray it on any paint. Wait about 1 min an its starts bubbling up badly. You can get it at Walmart, Advance, etc.

Wear a mask!

aircraft remover works good if you want bare metal but if you have any body work in your car that has been done it will eat that away too as well

If i use this product what should i do about protecting the rubber pieces on my car? tape them off in case of over spray? Or does it not eat the rubber?

Yeah I guess thats what I'll do,and does this product eat away the metal of the car itself? And the person I bought it from painted it themselves and its chipping and flaking and cracking

If you use the aircraft paint remover. Be sure to wear latex gloves also. That shit will burn like a mother fucker if it touches your skin. Also I would just remove any rubber parts. Just about your safest bet.

But it sounds like your best bet would be to just sand it down.

Just sand it, there is no reason to use chemicals on it.

i would sand it also because if you remove all the paint to bare metal you will need too spray a wash primer before priming it to have the best corrosion protection that is why i was asking what is wrong with the paint cause factory paint is the best so i would just take the time and sand all the old paint off back down to the factory paint then prime

sand it, take your time on, gives you better results. and if you havent used aircraft paint remover before, i advise you not to use it on your car till you have had practice and know how it works.

just make sure you dont go crazy with it and sling it everywere and get that shit in your eye!!! then you can say screw going backwards towards the future direction, but its hard to get ahold of a flux capacitor that contains 1.21 jigawatts

well if you are going 88 and not experiencing time travel you need to take it to the dealer man!

I'd say just sand it, its really easy and safer for you and your car.

Just get an orbiting sander. Pretty cheap, and I took my 63 down to the bare metal in one day. Just get you some music playing and try not to push too hard as to not warp the metal.

Good luck bro
