I got a 80GB PS3 for about 3 years now and one day i came home to get on my ps3 and all it shows is that im at the menu screen with the disc spinning icon on the top right corner but it wouldn't read anything. I tried putting the blue ray, game disc,cd's and even try using little air can to blow into it to see if it got any kind of dust on the lens but still wouldn't work....from what i been hearing from friends is that it might catch some kind of bug from one of the cod game and the last game i had in the ps3 was a cod game.

I want to get this problem fix b4 COD Modern Warefare 2 and Madden 10 comes out.

So what do you guys think can be the problem?

the laser on the ps3 has gone bad.. very common. try searching for local companies that repair ps3's this is no more than a $50 job. I know several people that have sent their ps3 to fix this problem for around that price. if you want a new/refurbished ps3 then send it back to sony. if your gonna buy any playstation it should be the 60gb. that best ones ever made in my opinion. seems like there was more quality 60gb than anything else.

My original 80GB is still kicking strong luckily. Check out Play n' Trade or Gamers Trade. They're local gamer stores that do system repairs.

My 60 gig just crapped out. the blu ray reader is bad, from what i have read you have to send it back to Sony. its $150 to fix it.

Mine you put a game in, everything works but the game wont show up in the media screen. Just saved games and other stuff. Ive formatted the hardrive and everything still wont work
