ok i went to look at this car and the guy said that it has a b18c out of the 96 too 00 type r but when i looked it up on hmotorsonline it says that it can be both the type r and GSR how can you tell the diffrence besides taking the valve cover off..?

B16/B18c5 heads are stamp on the front(pr-3), and the gsr's I can't remember. Someone help me out. But with the jdm motors someone can take a gsr and put a b16 head on it and sell it as a type-r, so idk why they did this?????

take it for a drive and see what the redline is. if it goes to 8k find out what ecu he is running. ahh there is going to be a stamp on the head like the poster above said but i cant remember where i saw this at.

Water neck location on the head, since the type R has a worked over b16 head, the water neck will come from behind the distributor, and the gsr's are on front of the head coming straight out.
