true, but fun fact: it was initially intended to be a limited production car, but consumer demand brought more to the market. The S2000 did a helluva lot better than Honda had anticipated, but its sales have dropped off pretty badly over the past ccouple of years. 10 years aint a bad run at all.

you fail to realize that the mustang gt weights 800lbs more than the S2000. That, and the close gearing of the S2000 makes it a lot more of a fair race than you would think considering the hp difference.

300hp in a 3540lb Mustang GT (basic options)= 11.80lbs/hp

240hp in a 2756lb S2000 = 11.48lbs/hp


Although neither compare to the 3132lb Z06 Corvette with 505hp, which equals 6.2lbs/hp lol.

The S2000 is legendary. This was to be built only 2 years but ended up running what over 10! In a world of overweight, overcomplicated, overengined cars, the S2000 is PURE. This was when Honda used to build cars we truly wanted. It drives like nothing else on a road, think 4 wheel bike. It still looks SUPERB and the owners are some of the nicest people/clubs around.

Goodbye S2000, you will be missed new but there are plenty around to show us love!!

nah, but the s2k needed to be discontinued. i was worried that with the newer models they would keep adding extras. traction control, clutch delay valve, drive by wire. The essence of the AP1's was being turned towards the daily driving consumer. Example: With the F22 they upped the torque so it would be easier for traffic situations, thus lowering that beautiful 9k redline. It was time.... plus, it looks like S2000 prices have started to go back up anyways. Yay!
