My buddy Jordan aka Rollininstyle2004 got a new daily recently. It isn’t anything special just a 2001 Honda Accord LX with 30k on the odometer! We got a little crazy with it as you will see in this thread. The exterior is not meant to be taken seriously at all. We did use this car as a test and tune for us on our suede and mdf skills. So, come along as we try to make Jordan’s Accord unique on a BOB (Balla on a Budget) budget.

We started with the maintenance items.

Seafoamed the car

seriously man great job, car look 1000x better! the only other thing i'd do is take off that sticker on your windshield... but other than that :goodjob:

Jordan is a new member of the International AllStars but due to an unfortunate happening he lost his show car. So, for now he is using his daily to help promote and support the team. So, the sticker stays :goodjob:

But if you are talking about that little sticker on the rear windshield please help because it has been on the car for who knows how long and has become brittle. I am scared to take it off. I am afraid I'll ruin the defrosting lines.

I just got the suede from Joann's. I bought 6 yards and it was just enough to do all 4 door panels, all the pillars, the rear deck, armrest, and the headliner with a little to spare for mess ups.

Crimp caps are the best thing. Must faster/easier than soldering, but just as effective.

But if you are talking about that little sticker on the rear windshield please help because it has been on the car for who knows how long and has become brittle. I am scared to take it off. I am afraid I'll ruin the defrosting lines.

Go to auto zone and get enough adhesive remover to soak a rag really well and hold it to the sticker until it softens. Then use a plastic razor blade and it should scrap off like jelly.

yea i mean there is no harm in keeping those there. it is just what i had at the time. i like to solder and shrink wrap. it is much cleaner imo. the caps are kinda bulky. more room saved behind the head unit the cooler it can operate.

The sound deadener didnt make it on time...it wasnt supposed to get to me until June 1st and I was leaving on the 30th so we put the car back together. Then of course, it came on the 29th so we did a little bit. Given this setup though the roof is not high on my priority list for deadening.

Cool, just make sure to remove a few parts on the visor before starting AND try to keep the original cloth as intact as possible! It makes it SOOO much easier as you have a template to trace.

Did you remove the original headliner cloth along with the foam?

Nope, I did it over the factory liner. I felt that it would provide a stronger bond soaking the factory headliner with the adhesive. I used an entire can of Super 90 on the headliner even though 3M says it works for 65ft^2 ;)

Trust me, I did a TON of research, the bond between the OEM Fabric and this fabric is stronger than the bond would have been between the cardboard headliner and the suede. The only way its going to sag is if the OEM headliner starts to separate from the cardboard, because there is no way the suede is coming apart from the OEM stuff. Super 90 is good up to 160 degrees and I used like 5 times the recommended amount. Its not going anywhere. Besides, headliners are supposed to be foam backed, and this material did not have any foam backing so putting it directly on the cardboard would have been the worst idea...

yeah, i think so too however I would have loved to have the roof have the padding to it...I was just worried that it would sag if i didnt take it off. O'well I'll know next time i do this! hey what about the other models that have vinyl on the roof?

rollininstyle2004

You can buy headliner backing at any fabric store. Its basically just foam, or buy any headliner material then overlay this on top. However that was just too many layers for me, and I figured I might as well just use the OEM stuff since I knew it would stick to that. Same concept as with the door panels. Its just an overlay over the stock cloth. You let the stock stuff absorb A LOT of adhesive so it provides a very strong bond.
