ok so heres the story... about a week 1/2 or 2 weeks ago i had just got done putting in a B20 in my DB. Everything was going well until a week later the AUTOMATIC transmission goes out on me. financially unstable, i dont know what to do. so i seem to get lucky and my buddy finds a guy on EastcoastEFcivics.com and he has a FREE b16 A/T transmission. since the guy was local i figured id give the guy a shot and talk to him and get a little history about the transmission... come to find out the transmission only had 40k on it and had just been sitting.(for about 2 yrs.) so i said eh why not ill give it ago and hope for the best, as bad as i didnt really even want to do another automatic. thanks to my buddy jon (dabuilding) and charlies (csmiths) we got the new transmission in, test drove it and it didnt drive bad at all.. it actually got down signicantly better than the LS tranny. we pull up to the house after a quick test drive and the tranny is pooring fluid. :headslap: so from what we see the New transmission had a bad seal. :screwy:sooo im really to the point of giving up. i dont know if i should get a loan and do the 5 spd., because if we are pulling the transmission apart again its not worth doing another auto. and be broke for the rest of my life. or should i sell or trade the car ive put so much time and love into?? what would you do IA?:dunno:

Replace a $5 seal and ride out if your broke. Labor is free other than your time, parts are not.

change the seal and roll out...if you are already struggling why dig a deeper hole with a loan?

Honestly im done with Autos tho i mean if i get a new car its got to be a 5spd and if i take this tranny apart its got to be a 5 spd.

Well, there are pump seals. and then there is a rear main seal for your engine, but you would have seen it leaking before, it just doesn't magically start pouring... You would really have to see where its coming from to justify what is a feasible option...

id just replace the seal and deal with it for a little while. Save some money and buy the 5 spd. No harm no foul.

hmmm.....

replace the seal in hopes it works, labor sucks but hey its cheap right?

if it fails, get what you want with a loan, a non drivable car does NOT get you even close to the price you want to sell it for.

would it cause tranny fluid to poor? it did on my other transmission the same thing.. hmm

Are you using the same torque converter from your ls, or did the b16 come with one? And a rear main seal leak would be oil, not transmission fluid.
