Anyone successfully cut a broken key? Stupid me didn't have a spare made before it broke...

eh sounds like your going to have to give up the vin and have one made at the dealership

ya i broke the only key to my 4runner while i was at college. i had to take it to a locksmih and she was able to duplicate it. took about 5 min and cost me $2. just do some research on locksmiths.

ya i broke the only key to my 4runner while i was at college. i had to take it to a locksmih and she was able to duplicate it. took about 5 min and cost me $2. just do some research on locksmiths.I've worked with locksmiths before, I'll try it..if not I'll file a key myself lol!


i like how take pics of the simplest things and they look so bad assA photo is ALL about the lighting and knowing how to capture it...

Well considering ya didn't answer I'll share. Lol

When I broke my E30 key the dealership made a new one from it. It was like $27 and took two days to get it back in.

Yeah there are lil pins inside that move to the groves of the keys that he will be able to measure from.

That looks just like my key...
mine broke in exactly the same place.

I ordered a new one from bav auto and one of my friends is gonna cut it.

Can a locksmith make a key for a car with just a lock cylinder?Most locks have codes on them, they can cut a key using that code....

When I used to work at a hardware store, we made duplicates of broken keys all the time. Try your local Ace or True Value. If they haven't upgraded to the new style machines like Lowes, HD, and the like have, then they should be able to. Question will be though, if the person helping you really wants to take the time to do it.
