Ok so I was at the girls house tonight and her mom went downstairs to finish up some laundry when all the sudden we heard her scream bloody murder.
My girl and I ran downstairs to find this hanging on the back wall of the garage...

I guess it found the scent of the rat blood on the rat trap and stuck its head in the trap. Well I went to pick it up and low and behold it was still alive. Took a few snap shots with a camera and then let it go. Pretty fucken funny....lol. All together from tip of the nose to the end of the tail it was a little over 6 feet in length. Gatta love rat snakes
I though her mom was getting murdered at first and almost grabbed for the gun before I ran downstairs too....here are a few pics

My props to you sir for releasing it and not killing it. Snakes get such a bad rap because people are just plain ignorant. It saddens me to see people kill snakes for no other reason than from simply being afraid of them.
Reps to you sir. :goodjob:

Snakes are not poisonous. Some snakes are venomous, not all are. Poison is usually ingested, where venom is usually injected (via bite or sting). Sorry but I am a snake person and I hate it when the word poison is used.

I ran over a 8" rat snake. He slithered away at about 5-6". Now I make sure I keep my lawn short. If that means mow twice a week then that is what I have to do. I have a kid and 2 ?Chiwawas? to keep safe.

Glad you let it go since it was a rat snake. Had it been a copperhead or water moccasin, then I would say go ahead and kill it since it would probably try and strike when you let it go. Like several people have said in here though, no point in killing it if it's not venomous.
