I put a car magnet on the trunklid of my 93 Sentra and now because of the sun it seems like it is permanently attatched to it, do any of you know how I might be able to get those car magnets off the trunklid. Any helpful info would be appreciated.

thanks/later/Bruce

A little bit of plastic explosive should do the trick.

try and use one of those things you use to spread spackle on a wall and a small hammer to force it under the magnet

Or you could cut them off with a plasma cutter. :lmfao:

you'd probablly be better off getting a new trunklid.

plastic scraper!

id suggest waiting until saturday when its warm out..and let the spot heat up, and than try to get it off, it will make it much easier. Unless you have a hair dryer or something..

Damn you guys are going about it all wrong. THere is an easier way, here's what you do

You take an old lamp or something with a 12v plug on it. Cut the plug off said lamp giving you as much lead as possible. Get an insulated extension cord (approx 25' worth) and plug it in. Take the end of the cut lamp cord and strip the ends. If your not sure how, please refer to season 2-5 or 24 for Jack Baeurs visual example, he likes to do this to towel heads.

Tape both bare wires to the trunk and plug into the extension cord. You may want to squirt the trunk with a water hose while you do this to optimize the current. The car will now be negativly charged and the magnet will drop right off! Easy as pie! If it doesnt work the first time, try more water and take off your shoes.

try using some sticker remover or something.

just put a sticker or another cooler magnet on top of it. if that does not work, explosive , or a rocket propelled grenade launcher so you can step back a few feet.

I've had this happen with customers magnets before. I have always been able to get them off with a heat gun and a plastic scraper. So far they've all come off without damaging the paint. Decal remover won't work since it won't soak through the magnet like it would vinyl.

here is the easiest way... there is something called a degasser... you can get them at the auto parts store... it is something that you can use to magnetize the end of your screwdriver... if you turn it one way... it magnetizes and the other way demagnetizes... this will remove the magnetism and should come off real easy... I have one in my toolbox if you need to borrow it...:-) However some of the other ideas sound fun...:-)
