Alright i know there is a section for tv shows and all that but im gearing this more towards religion. honest judgements only.

for the past 2 months ive been drawn to tv. i dont watch much of it but theres this tv show called "paranormal state" i personally think its a damn good show. lol

some of you know of this show. if not ? its little crew of college kids who are sensitive to spirits that interact with the living...good or bad. they travel to peoples houses with team of professionals who guide them through advice and help people either understand why this is happening or make the spirits go away.

the catch is i dont really believe so much of having bad energy enter my home or going places to where i dont feel right. so to me this show is pure entertainment but it seems like true stories. like it could actually happen just maybe not these stories on tv. who knows if its fake or real. prove me wrong or right.

anyway, what im wondering about is...is religion that powerful? does it really have its true meaning in words in prayer? this priest goes through peoples houses and gives blessings and or an exorcism. and it supposedly works. then these spirits disappear and go to where ever they came from. or there are psychics interpreting what spirits or demons are trying to convey in the house or to the living.

so...once again getting to my point was do you really believe in all this?? why? is the lord's or god's words spirit stronger than evil? that saying a prayer and believing it has an actual power? these are things (a war) that we can not see at our own natural human eye but others who are, i guess blessed, with the gift of communicating with the "other side".

do you believe the devil develops over the years or months, and gets stronger to touch the living then finally starts to visualize and comes back as a true life entity and becomes what you think it might be?

there are clips of the show to use for example....sit back and watch then respond. your answers will make more since to me if you watch the clips instead of going off of your own opinion w/o watching it.

Ghosts i do believe in, but i have never encountered a ghost before though. Have seen some weird things happen though. I would say that show is pretty damn fake because how do you get used to hearing or seeing crazy shit happening. If i saw a "SPIRIT" the first time i would shit in my pants and if i saw it the second time, i'll still shit in my pants.

I don't believe in God thus i don't believe in spirits/ghost. Nor do i believe in psychics or any thing paranormal. All these people are, are scammers.

No. This is easily created, and easily produced entertainment, made as intensely dramatic as possible that feeds of the superstitions of people who have yet to broaden their understanding of the real world. There is nothing real about it.

To better answer your question.

Yes religion is that powerful. People are going to interpret sensory input however they want to, and usually instead of looking for the rational cause and effect relationship, they attribute occurrences without explanations to something "supernatural" and seek a supernatural solution. Since it's only superstition to begin with, the only solution to a superstitious person, would rationally be a superstitious one.
