yeah I got the itch to see if my kit lens is why I don't like my camera and picked up this alpha 70-300 for a pretty good price. Here's a couple of shots of a squirrel lol. I was trying to use manual focus because it takes forever for it to auto focus so it's not as perfect as I'd hoped... still gotta get it perfect or start bracketing.

so far I'm pretty happy with it... I really like wildlife, I just need to go somewhere where there's more of it lol. My parents' backyard isn't cutting the cheese haha.

Not bad. I've been thinking of getting the Tamron 70-300 to replace my 55-200.

that is one of the main benefits of the crop sensor. instead of it being a 70-300 its really a 105-450.

I bet that chipmunk was ready to attack you--probably fast enough to get you before you had a chance to turn the other way and dip. lol.

Not the lens I would have purchased if I was thinking about switching brands... did you look at the Minolta 50mm f1.4?
The Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 is what I shoot with as a daily... but my best lens is my Minolta 80-200mm f2.8 APO (HS). That one will set you back $1300-$1500 though.
The a700 focuses _much_ faster than the a100 as well. The a700 with the 80-200-- there is no such thing as slow autofocus.... LOL.
