Ok so I need to get the emissions on my evo done. My tag is expired and I can't renew it until I do emissions. Of course it wont pass but I need someone who can help me out. I know I'm gonna have to pay a bit for it. If anyone here knows anyone who can do it please help me out. PM me to keep things private.

Honestly man I have heard time and time again people trying to get emissions "under the table" from all kinds of people but I have only heard of people getting it done, never met someone who actually knows someone and accomplished it...just heard about it or about someone doing it x years ago. The one place I knew who could've done it for my car about 2 years ago will no longer do it because it's a federal offense and getting caught means loosing their license to make a living. Plus I am fairly certain they got caught and were fined outrageously and barely kept their business because they had the money to pay off the fines.
I'd say keep trying because you never know what you can find out of the city, but I gave up pretty quickly because I had other options.
My car was obd1 and a 1998, so it was never going to pass but I registered it up at our lake house so every summer (during my birthday) I renew my registration up there and no need to worry about anything. If you have a friend, or family member who lives farther out, and can receive your tag/car b.s in the mail then get it done that way, it's so simple and you don't have to worry about paying someone $$ who could loose their job for helping you out. I have a few other friends who even have mailboxes/share mailboxes out there who do it that way.

Josh-i already explained to you, you WONT pass unless some1 is willing to have another EVO there with a different ECU with all your information. But if some1 does that, they are seriously retarded. They are almost guranteed to get caught.

Lots of words.
I CAN get it done. But he is running an AEM ECU which will not communicate with the state so he needs an OEM ECU. But if he does that, his car won't pass or even run.
I can handle pre 96 cars like none other. :goodjob:

you can pass you just need to find the right people, thats all im going to say, your going to have to pay way more then older cars do but u need it done to get on with life right? just ask around stores, "jiffy lube", "express lube" ask them if they know or can do those emissions, if not, they will send u to another store, trust me :goodjob:

Why is that?
The Emissions machine only reads for codes, it does not register the VIN or mileage for you

it reads and pulls the vin from the ECU. and with the AEM it won't communicate (from what i've been told by other AEM owners)

Weird,
When I got my emissions done, we had to manually enter my VIN, Mileage, etc.

Some year models pull vins directly from the ecu, while others do not..
i belive and correct me if im wrong but even though you type it in, it still checks with the ecu to make sure its correct

Let's just say, I KNOW that what he was looking for, is possible with our cars

Like I said, register it out where there is no emissions..Some people don't/can't run the stock ECU or only want to run A.E.M/Megasquirt/obd1....

Yup. So best bet, and safest bet for an inspector, is to avoid this situation.
