Does anyone have one?

I have a regular size 15 or 16 inch laptop now, but I've been leaning toward buying a mini 10 inch one. the 8.* were way to small.

i don't want it for my personal computer, i already have a desktop and a laptop, but i was thinking something that is light (3 lbs  ) and easy to take around. i think i'll just be taking notes on it and go around campus with it. other than that, i'll use my other computers.

So any problems, complaints, etc with the mini laptops?

I have the 8.9 inch one, 1.2 inched wasnt worth about 100 dollars to me. I like it well enough. I got the Hp Mini because of the 92% fullsize keyboard.

I think it would be fine if you have a regular sized one also. I can't stand small screens. But I know my 17 inch widescreen is a bitch to carry around lol.... so if/when I do the whole college campus thing, I'd probably invest in one of the minis.

i looked at the 8 and 10 and the 8 just looked too small. i went to best buy and looked at the HP and Dell's. I'm probably gonna buy it around back to school time, since there will probably be great deals on them.

my only problem was the touchpad/mouse thing. i would probably have to get a wireless mouse to go with mine. but these past two semester, it was murder toting around my regular laptop, just because it was so big.

if i got a mini, it would be lighter and more convenient. i have MS one note i wanna put on it, but my dad said he could probably find a USB cd/dvd combo drive for 60 or less.

other than HP and Dell, does anyone have any experience with the other brands?

i'm leaning more toward a solid state drive.

Watch for the solid state drives cause the most they have out I think on them is a 16gb, Not very big. Id stick with the 160gb hard drive, and you wont see better deals then the $300 they are now, so just go ahead and get one.

i've seen solid state drives with 32gb. with whatever type i go for i'm looking in between 300-400 so far. my parents said they would put a bit toward it.

The only thing an Acer is good for is a boat anchor IMO.

i have the 8.9" acer aspire one. i got it at walmart. it was kind of an impulse buy. best buy, fry's, none of the rest carried it, and that is what i was settled on buying. it was like 275 i think. it takes some getting used to with such a small keyboard. its not worth shit if you are thinking about doing any editing of any sort on it. its great for taking notes in class, or emailing, or internet around the house. i haven't loaded any software on it. i think it would be useless.

You can get a Asus 1000hd for around $250 or so now. It has a keyboard 92% of the size of a regular one. The mouse buttons are in the regular place. I've had mine for nearly a year and I love the thing.

I have the mini HP with the 10" screen. I've had it for almost a week and I love it. I also got a LG usb cd burner/dvd drive for it. I just bought a FM modulator so I can play videos and music threw my stereo in my work van(not allowed to put in aftermarket stuff in them). Plus with the bluetooth I can connect to the internet threw my sprint phone. (On it right now on the side of the road:D)

I bought mine to be able to hook it up to my cars ECU and play around with the tune and launch control.

I bought a 10" Acer Aspire One About a week and a half ago. 1 gig of ram, 160 gig hard drive, webcam, wifi, windows xp, the usual. Got it at Wal-Mart for $299. I've been dealing with Acer products since I was 15 (I'm 27 now). They make a quality product, and I've never had any problems with any of their products. First day right out of the box I transfered 37 Gigs of data over wifi from my desktop to my Aspire. When I was done, I picked it up and it still ran every program I opened flawlessly and with out lag. I'm happy with it. I was worried about it only having a 1.6 Ghz single core proccessor, but for what this system has. It's more than enough. And the size of the keyboard isn't really an issue. at least not to me. Try one out at Wal-Mart. They usually have one setup that you can test drive. You might be surprised.
