A female? Careful though, I would suggest against getting one through the internet however.

Thanks for ideas, I'm looking not too expensive, and a spider monkey sounds bad ass but kinda pricey.

How are lizards/iguanas for pets? Level of care and maintenance?

Black Throat Monitor FTW!! I have a young one that is about 30 inches nose to tip. When it is full grown it is capable of being between 6-7 feet nose to tip. Got to love big reptiles. :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

To take proper care of an iguana or lizard requires quite a bit of work on the owner's part. Reptiles like the iguanas and lizards require things such as very specific diets, precise temperatures, proper sized enclosures, and very frequent handling or they will become very aggressive. Most lizards are not for the beginner keeper. Most people think a cute little $15 baby iguana would be easy to care for, but they soon learn just how hard it can be. They are not for everyone, but if you do decide to go with an iguana or lizard and take very good care of it you will have a very good pet for many years. :goodjob:

I just lost my iguana in december. i had him for 14 years and got him when he was already 4 years old, he wasn't caged and was a great pet that roamed my house. He was easy to take care of, paper trained and really fun to have. (except when I woudl come home to find he broke into the fridge and ate all the strawberries) if you are looking for a first lizard they make great pets
