Smoking really bad, black smoke. New fuel filter, adjusted air/fuel ratio with no real change (can make worse but not better). I think next step is take it apart and clean the jet and inside of the burner (coil).

The insulation might be soaked with diesel fuel, What brand system is it?
Cleaning the coil is going to be a pain, do you have access to a forklift and has the coil been taken out ever before?

Thats what I thought and figured it would burn off but its been doing it for over a month now. Not sure what brand.

I don't plan to take the coil out, just clean the inside the best I can and see what happens. I haven't taken this one out but I have done others just like it before.

there is no good way to clean a burner without taking the coil out. You are going to have to replace the insulation or the problem will not go away. The insulation is most likely soaked with fuel. If you clean the inside with water with the insulation still in, the insulation will not work and be ruined.

Alright, sounds like fun. These things are a pain to take out. Thanks.
