Well now that I have a softball size dent in my original CRX hood, I need to figure out someway to fix it. The hood will have to be repainted because of the scratches and such. Then the hood wouldn't match the rest of the car because the red is faded a little. So I think I am just going to go with a carbon hood.

My question is what is a good brand of carbon hoods for a reasonable price? I have been looking at a SEIBON carbon hood on ebay that looks pretty good and is pretty well priced. Has anyone used this brand before or know any others. Thanks for any help!

I have Seibon carbon hood and trunk on my STi, after minor adjustments during installation, fitment is good. weave is straight, price is decent. overall they make good products.

Me personally I would go with the cheapest one I could find, then take it to a body shop and have them add multiple layers on clear on it.

P.S. If you get a cf hood, make sure its a ZC style hood!!!

^ I have definitely been looking at the ZC ones. But I don't know if I like it as much as just an OEM one.

I have a VIS hood. It's not cheap but I love it! It's my second one (wreck messed up the first) and the fitment is great.

Seibon is win if you are looking for genuine weight reduction. ViS hoods are ok but weigh about the same as stock. ViS does NOT stand behind their claims that their clearcoat has UV protectant, though. I had a ViS trunk on my s14, and the clearcoat broke down on it hardcore. I called them and complained, since if you look at their site, one of their main selling points is the UV resistant clearcoat. I asked if there was any way I could buy another trunk at distributor/discount pricing. I wasn't asking one for free, just a break since I had bought a lot of stuff from them and figured they would want to keep me as a customer. They didn't do anything. Wouldn't offer me a discount or anything. That made me really mad, so I haven't shopped with them since. I now use Seibon products 100%.

agreed with all EXCEPT, my CF hood was MUCH lighter than my oem hood.. maybe it was just lighter for an EJ.. but again, clearcoat fades in the sun

on my del Sol it was like maybe 5lbs lighter. Seibon are super light lol.

And to OP, like dude above me said, wax CF regularly. I was waxing my trunk lid every 2 weeks, but I guess the Savannah, GA sun and ocean air and stuff made it just decompose lol.

PM Bucky or call Superstar Customs.. he does the best restoration/repair on CF that I've seen to date.

Well, it would be more of a prevention job for me, since i don't have a CF hood yet. Just covering my bases before i decide if i want one.
