I just wanted to know what the baseball fans on IA think about Manny. I always hear about the "Manny being Manny" thing, but you can't deny, he puts in the work. Behind The Machine (Albert Pujols) he might be the 2nd most dangerous offensive wepons in the MLB. The Dodgers players love him and the fans even more. I know there are times he looks crazy like when he was rolling on the ground for a ball, and cutting off a throw from an OUTFIELDER:screwy: , but he can hit and produce offense. What do IA think about Manny?

He's a badass, That's for sure. But I am a Redsox fan and anti Dodgers in a big way...lol But you can't argue with a .315 lifetime average and 530+ Home Runs. No doubt future hall of famer.

And what's funny about Pujols is he was the 13th round pick in 99' and the Cards only offered him a 10K signing bonus and he declined and chose to play the Jayhawk league in Kansas until the cards offered him a 70K bonus in which he chose to sign. Definately the biggest steal in the MLB draft history.

He'd be better off as a DH.

X2 that's why I love the National League, a pitcher buzzes a hitter you can bet he's goning to catch one in the ribs

Pulols, 13th round?????That means most teams passed on him 12 TIMES? So much for scouting I guess

No doubt, And there are a lot of good hitting pitchers out there. Maddux and Glavine were always good hitters, Kerry Wood was a damn good hitter and Zambrano is without a doubt the best playing at the moment. *until he pulls stunts like running out bunts and gets put on the DL* askldjfgalkfjgadfkg

Yep, I know the Rockies scout reported on him and tried to get him signed but the team never acted on it, Then he did a try out for Tampa Bay and performed poorly...The rest as they say is history. lol

I just hope that none of these guys are on the juice. I doubt Manny is, he never hit a abnormal amount of homers, I believe his high for a season is 45, once in 2005 and 1998. But BA and slug % is always about .300 and .600 Pujols the same. I think they are just great hitters

I was talking about this with some friends the other night, I think Manny is one of the few that never did steroids and if he did it was never enough to matter. Like you said, No massive ups and downs in homers like Sosa and no huge bulk size from season to season. Look at pics of Sosa when he came up, He put on another 100 damn pounds by the time he had those three huge seasons with 60+ home runs.

Thats for real, because I can remember when Barry Bonds played for the Pirates and his early days with SF, he was built like Ken Griffey Jr. but all of a sudden, he became a thick neck HR king.

One of the best I've seen. If it was the bottom of the ninth and I needed a hit there are a few guys I'd rather be at the plate than him(pujols). But he sure can anchor a lineup.

But you gotta admit, he is pure comedy, coming out of the Green Monster after doing whatever he does, but he is a sure hall of famer 1st ballot

Update: Manny just got a 50 game suspension for a positive test for perfomance enhancing drugs. I am shocked and angry for the fact that I just swore up and down he wasn't on the juice and even argued with one of my brothers, I will never hear the end of it now, thanks Manny, I just hope Pujols isn't next

first off we all need to just wait and see what details surface. manny is not juicing, he was simply prescribed something that had a substance in it that threw up a flag. their are so many athletes from the MLB to the NFL that are actually juicing. manny has a huge fan base and I doubt this will turn people against him. its not like he was intentionally injecting himself.

While the substance he tested positive for is not steroids, apparently it's used to restart the body's natural testosterone after coming off steroids. Of course this is all trivial until more details come out.

Baseball is my second love. Everytime I hear about a player using PED's to "up their game" pisses me off. It kills the sport and they should be banned for life. I don't care who they are or what they bring to the table.

Sorry cunts......
