LOL, I made one into a DVD player.... Works 100%
I also made a bluetooth handset out of a Controller. You push the start button to answer the call.
If someone demands "pics or ban" then ban me, I only still have the DVD player and no pics of it.....

I always wanted to do the one where you turn the controller into a cellphone, But never thought I would be able to do it clean enough to be happy with it...

Yeah, I sold mine as soon as I got done with it. I knew I wouldnt be happy with it longer term o I just got my money back out of it.
Heres my DVD player. The "Power" button and light are functional and the "Reset" button is the eject. The remote is also functional, I mounted the IR receiver in the controller port. I tried to wire up the NES controller to work but I gave up.
I used to collect all sorts of vintage video game stuff. I have shit from 1977. Like 3 or 4 different Pong systems and random shit since. My biggest thing is NES controllers. I have about 100 different NES controllers/accessories. I gave up cause the only things left were out of my budget.

With some basic electronics / fiberglass skills and a little creativity, anything is possible.
