After k.o Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton December of 07 Floyd announces his return just hours before the Hatton/Pacquiao fight in vegas. He chose #2 ranked pound for pound Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez as his opponent in a fight scheduled for July 18. They have yet to announce at what weight will the fight take place.

I have mixed feelings about Mayweathers return, im glad to see him fight again because he so talented and has a big mouth that he uses to bring the casual sports fan to watch his boxing fight and maybe see him get knocked the f*** out but were still waiting on that because of his very defensive style. What i dont like about Mayweather is that he cherry picks his opponents, How's he cherry picking his opponents if he's fighting the p4p #2 guy you ask. Mayweathers last fight was at welterweight (147) why are you picking a guy that his last fight was at 135 and has fought there twice only, when you refuse to fight Mosely, Cotto, P.will ect that campaign in 147 (Williams has said that he'll drop weight to fight Mayweather) Anyway should Mayweather get past Marquez he will most likely fight Pacquiao in a fight for the ages, Theres also talk about Pacquiao fighting Cotto in a catchweight fight. A largely partisan crowd of Cotto supporters filled Madison Square Garden to the rafters and their man refused to disappoint them, although a nasty cut over Cotto's left eye nearly derailed the celebration on the eve of New York's Puerto Rican Day parade.

Cotto, a native of Caguas, Puerto Rico, suffered the cut when he and Clottey inadvertently clashed heads just before the bell to end the third round.

"I felt good during the fight,'' Cotto said. "I didn't lose any kind of view. But toward the end of the fight, I had to box more because the blood started getting in my eye. I could see but (the blood) just made the fight harder."

In the end, the disappointment belonged to Clottey. The Ghana native, who lives in the Bronx, was knocked down in the first round but gave Cotto everything he could handle. After stalking Cotto and finding him for much of the 12 rounds, he felt he had done enough to win. He attempted a quick exit from the ring in disgust after hearing the decision. Judge Tom Miller scored it 114-113 for Clottey, while John McKaie 115-112 and Don Trella 116-111 both favored Cotto.

"I can't believe it,'' Clottey said. "I quit. I'm out of boxing. I'm never fighting again."

Top Rank's Bob Arum, who promotes both fighters, tried to console Clottey by assuring him that his performance was outstanding.

"It was a close fight," Arum said. "I told Clottey that he shouldn't talk like that, that he has to continue boxing."

Cotto's short left managed to knock Clottey off his feet just before the bell to end the first round. Clottey got up quickly, stunned but more angered with himself after being knocked off his feet for the first time in his career.

Just before the end of the third round, an inadvertent head butt opens nasty gash over Cotto's left eye.

That gave Clottey an opening and he came on strong in the fourth, landing left hooks to the body and head.

Clottey continued to do serious damage in the fifth, but was thrown off stride and down to the canvas by a Cotto move that looked more like MMA than boxing. It took Clottey about 20 seconds before he got up and the fight continued, but Clottey said his knee felt the effects of the fall the rest of the fight.

In the sixth, Cotto dominated the action by coming forward with lefts and rights as Clottey backed into a corner, only punching in rapid spurts. With blood streaming down his face, Cotto continued to come forward but Clottey appeared to be the stronger man as the rounds wound down.

It was Cotto's ability to weather the adversity that apparently swayed two of the three judges. He was digging deep and kept coming forward although Clottey displayed faster hands and quicker combinations.

First i wanna say that regardless of the outcome of this fight Juan Manuel Marquez is a warrior and a rare gem in boxing today. As if Mayweather didnt have enough advantages over Marquez he comes in at weigh in at 146 where he singed a contract for 144, yes he did get heavily fined for those 2 pounds but is the fact that he didnt even try to make weight. He wants to make a point by ko Marquez a guy who took Pacquiao 12 rounds on both fights and some might even argue beat the Pacman. Lets analyze Floyds last 4 fights without being biased:

Juan Manuel Marquez
Juans last fight was at 135 pounds in which he only fought there twice and was Juans highest weight hes ever fought in.
In Early 2008 Juan was fighting in 130 pounds while Mayweather had 8 fights above 135 pounds and went as high as 154. Mayweather had clear advantages in age weight speed and still showed up at the weigh in at 146 against 142 for Juan. (the contract was for 144) Mayweather was coming off of a year and a half layoff of inactivity since ko Hatton.

Hatton
Floyd fought Hatton in 145 where Hatton had only fought Collazo above 140 and did horrible and some though the lost that fight. Floyd did beat an undefeated fighter 5 pounds above his average fighting weight.

Oscar de la Hoya
Hoya was past his prime but Floyd did go to 154 to fight him. Some people say Hoya won that fight an Floyd officially won on a split dec.

Carlos Baldomir
No disrespect to Baldo but who are u? This is the only true welterweight fighter Mayweather has fought and this was in 2006. As expected Mayweather had advantages all across the board against Baldo.

Mayweather has all the skills and potential to become an all time great but will not fight other great fighters and compares himself to "Sugar" Ray Robinson , "Ali" and says hes a more complete fighter. Slugger will never beat a "real" boxer (don't take the word never to heart). Boxing takes both offense and defense (with most of the weight on defense). Look at most of the great boxers, they ran around and taunted their opponents or where great counter punchers.

But I think , the 1st person to beat May will have to Play May's game.. they have to be real aggressive and Chase Mayweather, But i think while they are chasing May, they have to be confident and just keep fucking with him.. basically stick and move .. just like Mayweather loves doing.. if that makes any sense.

Zab Judah was real aggressive and granted he lost, it has been the best person against May that Ive seen...

Zab style was somewhat Similar to May.. and that shooked May.. You could tell in May's eyes during the fight.

Anyways.. Mayweather is going to be tough to Beat.. I hate the jackass.. But he is fucking good..

Zab Judah is SOUTH PAW. from watching the fight, they should've gave it to Zab. but Pacquiao is the one to beat Mayweather. theres a REASON why mayweather gets mad when hes asked about pacquiao. he knows what Pacquiao is capable of. all of this talk about Mayweather and Pacquiao "controversy" will end if they make this fight happen.:yes:

sorry boy, but Pacquiao isnt any other boxer. they were talking about last night, after the fight that Marquez moved up in weight class but wasnt able to perform as good as Pacquiao did when he moved in upper weight classes. im just impressed with u guys not crediting Pacquiao and his fights.

ima say this again... as of now, Mayweather has the best Defense in boxing but Pacquiao has the best Offense in boxing.

especially with Freddie Roach on as his trainer... one of the smartest trainer in boxing. theres a REASON why mayweather didnt take Pacquiao's fight...
