you could do a h2b swap the whole swap would cost you like 3k and from what i read a while back i think they do high 13's with a I/E/H. Hope i helped....and if thats to much out of your price range just get a b16 and call it a day

18psi on a stock ls? Thats going to be fun for like what, 3 seconds?:???:2.514 seconds to be exact. LOL

i'd say just go stock h23 swap and call it done. i wouldn't worry to much about VTEC, and the h23 would give you a nice lil sleeper.

probably be able to hit 13's with some good tires and good launch/shift down the track.

sell it and buy a real car? I kid. a buddy of mine had a b16 swap with a chrome ECU and some other little things it was kinda fun to dry.

how cheap is cheap?

i mean just get a nice cam and do some head work on your d series, get a nice exhaust, nice IM, nice intake, put a good suspension on it and some good rubber and you will have one hella fun car.

wait to swap until you can but a nice monster under the hood

being that your a ( freshmen in college ) i'm assuming you want something reliable and low maintinance ? A b16 swap would be easy and pretty cheap, pluse you can beat them to death and still get pretty good gas mileage. Also remember your car is obd0 and if you turbo or build something like a LS/vtec your gonna wanna convert to obd1 for tunning. More $$$$

so my best bet is a b16 swap... what are some numbers made with this engine?????

jhadleyh

dude there is a shitload you can do...keep your d series, swap in a b, h, k, series the possibilities are endless honestly i think if you just turbo your d series you will come out spending as much as you would on a motor swap and will have more power than a b16 can put out stock.....do some research on honda-tech.com hence the TECH in the name of the website. and you can get a ebay turbo kit for like 600 bucks get it tuned and run like 8 psi and have a blast but like i said just check out honda-tech.com for more detailed info on the tech side of things....

^^ exactly

Don't piss in the wind w/ a b16. Boost the D safely 8 - 10lbs and call it a day.

If you want to go the N/A route, just build up the D16 (if it's an Si) with used parts that are floating around. Port your own head, and intake manifold. Find a gsr throttle body, get a used header. Etc... And you should have a fun little n/a, cheap set up.

OR.

Do what i did. I had a 88 CRX Si, with 215,000 miles on the stock D16A6. I piece a turbo kit for 700 bucks. Did most of the fabrication myself, and I ran 13.8's on street tires all day long. Needless to say that was fun...

There's a reason the b16 is the most popular motor in the honda community. I mean if you shake a tree hard enough one will hit you in the head.

I mean, it makes what, 150hp? Focus on lightening the car (don't completely gut it, though...thats never fun for a daily) and go with some decent lightly used shocks, springs, and wheels/tires. Rota is your friend. Fast and fun to drive do not always have to go hand in hand.

Best bang for your buck is a b18a swap. Why? Because it has torque and its cheap as hell. You can do this swap for A LOT cheaper than a b16 swap and it would be just as quick (in some cases quicker) than a b16 swapped car. Plus this swapped is easily upgraded. Wanna become quicker, just sell your tranny and get a b16 tranny. Want higher compression ratio, just install p30 (b16) pistions. Want vtec, install a dohc vtec head. Wanna rev to 9k, install arp rod bolts. This motor has endless combinations to make power, and the best part you upgrade at your own rate.

Its kool...
i was just being silly:crazy:

A b16 is good and all but......I got a JDM b20b on a b16 tranny and it was alittle cheaper then a b16 swap and IMO just as quick if not quicker (STOCK VS STOCK)
