I have been searching for a product to tint my tails. Been watching all the youtube videos on how to do it. It looks like window tint. So i figure Id go buy some window tint for $9.99. So I go to tint my tails and its not as easy as the videos made it look. But now I'm thinking maybe its not exactly window tint. But when I go to the decal sites that sell them I can't find anything about tinting tails. But they do have window tint. Should I not waste my time on the window tint?

Does it really? From the videos they looked decent. Well it was only 10 bux so no biggie.
So I'm assuming you use paint? hmmm

+reps for wanting to try it yourself.
But the taillight overlays are made out of Vinyl, its nothing like window tint. You can pick some up precut for your car on Ebay (ex. type 96 Civic taillight tint) and you should see alot of selection.
If you really are doing it yourself, you could try a can of VHT nite shades spray tint. It will come out much better than the film. With the tint spray you can clear it to prevent it from fading and buff it to get that shine.
