goddamn it it's impossible to make any money right now. i've been at my job for 4 1/2 years now and they cut our hours and i don't make shit. i've put out like 7 applications to misc. places and no one has said anything back yet. i mean i have an associate's and i'm a pretty smart guy, but it is frustratingly impossible to do anything right now.
when will this shit get better? when will i actually make more than fucking $18,000/year. where's the door i can put my foot in so i can move up a company ladder with my hard work?
fuck being poor and living in a goddamn trailer. i was raised better than that so why can't i live better than that?

i'm a shipper in a dead end warehouse for yearone. our industry is muscle car restoration and NO ONE is buying goddamn muscle car parts right now.
i've screwed myself because my work experience for the last 4 years has been warehouse shit (forklift, export documents, packing). i did counter sales on the weekend for a couple years, but that will get me nowhere except like autozone or something.
it was basically to tide me over until i got out of school, but now look what's happened. it's just my luck, really.

true story! so why can't i find a job to pay me more right now?
i mean i am definitely getting down on myself too quickly as i've only been looking for not even a week. i am just one of those people that wants instant gratification. i just want to make more fucking money. i'm not scared of hard work.

I have been looking for 2 years and havent found shit. I have only been called for 4 interviews in that time period. A week isnt anything in a good economy and dont even mention it for 6 months in this one.
If you arent that far from marietta, I know lockheed is hiring supply people, you might be able to find something there.

/rant.I make about double that as an intern, you should check into internships if you can't find a regular full time job. Great way to get your foot in the door and get good experience.

I say forge your own path, man. --figure out what you're good at and what you love to do. See where friends and family might need a helping hand and work from there in your spare time. Think about starting a PT business. Then, you won't have to wait on someone else to determine what you get paid. :goodjob:

Like Ironchef said, find an internship. Although its hard to find a paying one and its tough and competitive in general.
When I'm looking for a job, I send out 50-60 apps a DAY. Make sure your resume is spot on and clean. They look at your resume before anything. I've listed jobs in CL just to see how other peoples resumes are..
Its hard to find a job with the economy the way it is. Many companies are in a hiring freeze.

that's one thing that makes me angry is that the only job i've ever had is this warehouse job so my resumé sucks balls. it consists of warehouse specific skills. i didn't realize what a black hole this warehouse was going to be for me lol.

When you get down on yourself for hours getting cut, think about the people out there like me who wish they had hours period. I do not get unemployment and I havent had a job in 5 months. At least you have SOMETHING. Its definitely better than nothing.
Ive applied for at least 100 jobs in the past month and a half, anywhere from marketing/sales to delivering pizzas. I have applied for numerous customer service positions too and I still have not gotten anything. I worked in retail for 3 years, from sales associate to assistant manager. Its rough out there, very very hard to get a job anywhere. Degree or no degree, the market is so competitive, companies have SO MANY options.
Ive been out of work 5 months now and if I dont find a job very very soon I will be in deep trouble.
Wait at least 5 years..
And even then we will still feel like we are in a recession, with less than single-digit growth rates..
I've listed jobs in CL just to see how other peoples resumes are..

I was laid off form my former employer and put out a ton of applications ( Paramedics can normally name their price and most places will pay it) but because of ATL and several other Depts. cutting back I got fucked. The only reason I have a job now is because I crawled back to the owner I told to "Go fuck himself" and apologized. Pay is not as competitive as other places but its a job and it pays the bills so I wont complain.

i was looking for a job for 6 months and just found one. luckily my sisters husband is a manger at wild wing in gainesville. the only job i got offered was washing dishes but like i told the other new guy its better to make some money then none. i mean we got 15 applications in 2 days just for one position.

yeah i've been trying to get the guys in the graphics dept. at yearone to let me come on board, and finally got an email back today. now while he may be just trying to be nice and blow me off, it's semi-progress. i kinda decided that i'm just going to go back and finish up a bachelor's today and by the time i get done, i'm hoping the job market will be open enough for me to get my foot in a door somewhere. the OP was really just a vent from a day or two of frusteration, but in retrospect... i'm still a career student right now. if i still feel this way in 2-3 years then i know something's wrong lol.

U guys need to put out like a horny girl. I was jobless for 2 months (refer to the GOTTA JOB) thread. I've had countless interviews and worked round the clock applying in 3 different cities in 2 states to get work.
I FINALLY got one, last week and can relax now, though I only have 35 dollars or so to carry me over till payday. I'ma make it. So OP, dont just cop out, apply like there is no tomorrow, thats what I did and now I'm gettin 2 calls a day for interviews, even for companies I didnt apply for. My fukin resume was circulated so much.
So I mean, if u wanna get outta ur current position, do it and stop procrastinating. I'm makin more than my DAD and he works in the HVAC industry, but he doesnt know that :ninja:

Also, ur in the growing south. What u think its like in my location. OHIO OMG!!! One of the rustiest places in the rustbelt. So I mean... if I can get a job, u can, regardless of ur experience. Customer Service is a VERY good thing to have experience on. Do a call center (U will most likely make more doing that grulling job than what ur doing now) just stick it out and doctor ur new resume for what u want to do for the future.
Soft skills, flexablility seem to be great things to have, I suppose. That's what I've been in all my life and its always necessary.

just cause you live in a trailer doesnt mean shit. its just living within your budget. which is actually not a bad thing. i agree, if youre a hustler you deserve more than 18k/year. but thats better than nothing and better than collecting unemployment in my book.
sometimes the shit just hits the fan and there isnt much you can do about it but keep doing what youre doing and keeping your head up above water. that by itself says enough about your character right there. only the weak will drown. things have a habit of working themselves out.

Try to get some microsoft certifications and try your luck in the computer field...if you got an microsoft systems certifed engineer certifications then you could start maknig some decent money....
