Same here. What do you use to edit with? I use preimere, and it is kick ass!! All the stuff you can do with it is nice. Been editing video for about 6 years now...kind of a second job.

ive been through mountain passes in germany when i was stationed there but that was in my civic and i loved that. im worried cause of the weight differnce from my, civic to my, supra i guess i gotta adjust and take pointers. speedminded why a 300zx

ugh, nasseau is setting in. My body guy doesn't think the car can be done by tomorrow night. Sanding and cleaning right now but should start spraying tonight. He wasn't planning on the glass guy coming until monday but i got him to call him in for tomorrow (hopefully) and assembly begins. I told him if he can spray it then i'll assemble it friday night and saturday myself, i don't care, it's nothing i haven't done before. They've had the car since a week before i organized the run and all the parts for it the week after. (new front and rear bumpers, fenders, oem optional sides, etc.) The car is going to be mint, all except for that damn hatch with the 8 holes because i haven't found a carbon fiber one yet and not spending the money to fix that heavy ass oem one. Anyways, since i'm off next week i offered my assistance for anything they need monday or Tuesday if they can have it done. *sigh* We'll just have to see.

We'll be making a few stops on the way to let everyone regroup, take a few pics, and maybe get a few last minute things at one of the gas stations up there. On one of the stops i'll elect one or two people to make a run up alone to "check out the scenary" ;) ya now what i meannn?

Russell, and others try 129 again...i'm still debating on doing an actual route as a whole or letting a few "leaders" be tour guides and split up into groups. I can do either last minute so it's gonna depend on how many we have show up. I'd almost rather just do one big group and make a few loops and figure 8's...129, 180, 348, 75, back down 180 to 129 to 180 over to 60 down and back around up 129, etc...there are so many options and we have enough "veterans" in the group to make a decision then...

I can help with that. My friend had the same problem. Clay bar the hood clean first, then use dish detergent soap to wash the hood off. Dish detergent cleans all oils and whatever waxes left. Get a cheap orbital buffer (anythign professional and you risk damaging whatever UV / Gelcoat on the hood. Once you have the orbital take some meguiars paint cleaner, which is basically a semiabrasive compund and use the buffer to rub it in the hood, moving around rapidly. The pad may become gunked up after the first coat or two. Throw the pad away or wash it clean and dry. After that apply a couple droplets of polish and either apply by hand or new pad on the buffer. Dont glob on the polish because a little goes a lot further than globs. You should start to see a nice finish, if not you might have to repeat the steps again. ONLY USE MICROFIBER towels to buff out whatever you apply, anything else and you risk swirls and scratching paint. After the polish step apply a thin coat of wax. You have to be careful using a wax on an uncleared CF hood.

It isnt the local cops that I am worried about (obviously between you and i we graduated with half of the lumpkin sheriff's office!) Its the GSP! The new sheriff is paying to have extra GSP on the mountain until winter hits. There have been articles in the dahlonega paper every week about the sheriff targeting motorcyclists. He said it will be his personal duty to take care of the rising motorcycle problem we have in the mountains. I think it is horse shit but since I have to drive by the sheriffs house everday going up the mountain to the house I give him the one finger salute! And besides anybody that knows how to ride a bike knows its not the experienced riders that cause problems its the newbies with there drive out tags that crash and cause problems.

Oh and I will get the schedule for the local cops patroling the county on that day!

you don't have to go to a driving school to hit the mountains. do you think all of the people that live up there needed a special driving school to get to/from their houses on a daily basis? did all the leaf lookers take a driving school to be able to get up and down 129 without dying? not trying to bash you here (consider it a motivational speech), but if you want to learn to drive your car you need to get out and drive your car, not make excuses everytime something comes up that involves something other than sitting in a parking lot and taking pictures or cruising around to meets. a performance driving school isn't going to help you in the mountains any more than you making excuses not to go. your car is a car, just like every person going on this run YOU control your right foot and your steering wheel. nobody says you have to go fast, and nobody is going to hound you because you go slow. you choose how you drive, whether you want to push it or just cruise through and enjoy the scenery. you know how to press the pedals, you know how to turn the steering wheel, so what special skills other than those does it take to navigate some turns in the mountains?

let me generalize this for everyone:
by all means i don't want to see anyone wreck, but please don't try to make it seem as though the mountains are some super treacherous place to go for a spin because hundreds of people commute over these same roads and don't seem to have a problem with them. if you suddenly decide you're Colin McRae then you'll find yourself in trouble, but if you have enough brains to stay at a speed you feel comfortable with (speed limit is 35 on 99% of the roads, a monkey could drive these roads at the speed limit) and not break into the fast and furious "i gotta show that guy who's boss" attitude then you won't ever find yourself in a sticky situation. again, i encourage anyone that has self control to hit the mountains because it's great fun to spend a day up there and when you add the cookout and such it's even better. if you like to drive slow and check out the scenery, so be it. if you like to open it up a little, keep your wits about you and it's fun. if you like to try and show that you are somehow superior by trying to keep up with people or make stupid passes like you're going for a trophy, take your ass somewhere else.

Yea i had a good time .... {was in the red hatch} .. We also had a spin out.. Green hatch with me went in a 15mph u-turn to hot . I saw the whole thing comming in my rearview.. I saw the rear come up a little then....screeeeech.. But all was ok didnt even go off the road...Lucky.. I had a great time and will be at the next one..Even know i didnt get a burger, by the time i got up to get one all the bread looked gone:(..I had to go get food{i even brought twinkies} .....lol... oh well ....This was my 7th moutian run... just rolled in i was talking to george from batleground for a long time at a gas station but i had a blast the supra is fine no oil leak or cracked oil pan. i ran her 125 mph home to make sure she was ok. thanks to everyone its kind of been a dream of mine to hit the mountains and thanks ga-teg for the advice since im a rokie on the hills i cant wait to go back again.

129 was the road that the park entrance was on, and from the pic i saw it looked like you went off on 129. it goes up over the mountain from vogel, or if you head north for about an hour you'll be on the tail of the dragon.

put some wider/better tires under it and i'd bet it would wake up the handling a bit. the rear wheels especially are kinda narrow for that heavy car and not properly offset for the suspension (hence the spin action when you came into a turn a bit hot).
