Ok just picked up this ej coupe 92-95. has a d16y8 swap in it. Car starts, idles fine, and such. But problem is it wont rev past 3000k rpm. Ecu is not chipped or anything its a p28. Thinkin it is the tps sensor. Havent gotten to take a look at it close but gunna try n fix it this weekend.

LMK if you got a clue Reps for help?

does it have an obd1 dizzy? in obd1 cars(motors) the CKP are located in there; obd2 esp on the y8 the CKP is behind the crank pulley. could be the cause of your woes.

well, your ECU is OBD1 and your engine is OBD2. thats a no no. go get a obd2 to obd1 ecu conversion harness. google rywire or boomslang. will run you about $100.

that shouldnt matter aslong as all the sensors are from obd1. it should run right regardless of my ecu being obd1 and engine begine obd2. ive done it before:goodjob:

Yea thats usually more of a problem when putting an obd1 motor in obd2 car, but this is the opposite.

Is it throwing a check engine light?

check codes and report back. they usually point you in the right direction.

alright sorry for the late update...car is at my cousins house...but i guess there are no check engine lights. But here it what i did...

Plugged in my chipped p28 with a p30 map i think its chipped with chrome.
Well i plugged it in and car ran fine:thinking: Any ideas why the p28 wont run it?

I plugged the p28 into my b17 and it worked fine:thinking:

could be an automatic ecu....check it for burnt spots on the inside if it is a manual ecu. Also, if an injector fails sometimes it causes it to do that.

Ill check the ECU...dont think it was the injectors.

When i plugged in the p30 ecu it was running like a charm:D
