i swapped my engine and the new header was alittle long and made my exhaust hit the heat shield toward the back of the car where it curve's. the only thing running above above the heat shield is the E brake cable. will it hurt anything to take that shield off? its toward the back of the gas tank and i dont know if that matters.

so it's hitting behind the gas tank? I would say to see about bending or grinding down the shield before all out removing it. The metal on the heat shield is pretty thin and will bend really easily for you.

Just cut a lil portion of what you need off...

yeah, i would say cut that excess length that you gained from the header off of the exhaust pipping, then weld the flange back on.

so the heat shield needs to be on there? i took it off but i kept everything. so will it hurt anthing to drive it tomorrow to work and back?

I dunno about hurting anything, or even how "necessary" it is... I would keep it on, though... heat and gas tanks are not things that need to go together lol.

it wont hurt at all but it keeps the heat off the gas tank bro.
