i have 55 watt 8000K on my bike, but they are bright enough they wash out to look closer to 6000K. I use 4300K in the STi and the retrofit on her Accord.

So how well can you see compared to, let's say, the 2 cars on the left here or my 4300k output?:D

^actually it's not as bad as one would think. I actually see really well during night, i didn't cheap out on the HID kit. True output is not near what a 4300k will put.
If you planning on getting one of those $79-99 kits, then stick with 4-6k, anything above the output simply sux.

3000k for my fogs for visibility in the rain ftw!! Having a tinted windshield doesn't help the 4300's much:ninja:

3k ideal for fogs.......
Once u go above 6k in your headlights it is gonna be more bling than function...especially in heavy rain at night.....it will suck.

For pure output 4300 or 5K is going to be your best bet. However 6K offers a nice 'hid color' while only sacrificing ~300 Lumens in output. Hardly noticeable by most drivers.
When you get up to 8K you are going for color but the output is still vastly superior to OEM Halogen. 10K, 12K and getting up to 30K. The deep blue, purple and pink lights you do notice a lose in output. You also will start to run into eye fatique on long night drivers with the high Kelvin temps.

LOL@Frog - no shit man, haha.
I have 4.3k headlights and 55W 6K fogs.
If I had to do it again I'd go 3k, but I didn't know they existed back then (maybe they didn't) lol.

I know my shite about lighting. Too many retrofits and the like. How many E28s do you know of with E-Code Headlamps, a double relay harness and 55W HIDs ;)

it does depend on the car and color of the car.. i have some 14 k (or something like that) which were a purple/pink on my black ej once and loved them.. then i tried puttin them on my sonoma eg and hated them.. but as a general rule of thumb, 6k is best.. its what im rockin now!
